Palestinians pass on food aid, instead order TVs for soccer

The word from the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip is of hunger and impoverishment because of the Western boycott of the Palestinian Authority. Every day, the PA feeds to captive Palestinian correspondents of Western media reports of women selling jewelry for food or men begging for medical treatment. The Gaza Strip is not Fifth Avenue, but nobody is starving or running to the poor house. The European Union and Arab states continue to pump in money to non-government organizations and the United Nations has been sending in 400 truckloads of food and medicine every day. The PA has even rejected an Israeli offer of medicine and instead asked for cash. So, what do the Palestinians want? They want color television sets to watch World Cup soccer. Over the past three weeks, about 120 trucks loaded with TVs have arrived in the Gaza Strip. The televisions were imported by Israeli companies and resold to Palestinian wholesalers. It turns out that Palestinians are as nuts over soccer as their counterparts in neighboring Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The games are broadcast throughout the region and many Palestinians rush home to eat supper watching their favorite teams. The idea that Gazans are not dying doesn't sit well with the EU. So, Brussels wants to pump more money for such services as education, welfare and psychologists. That means that the Hamas-led government will have the means to teach school kids about jihad, anti-Semitism and Bin Laden — all at Western expense.

And a SHOCK..........

Palestinian records reveal Iran top financial backer of suicide strikes

RAMALLAH — Iran is sending millions of dollars to maintain Palestinian suicide strikes.
For the first time, the Palestinian Authority has detailed Iranian funding to Hamas and aligned groups. The PA said much of the Iranian funding has gone to families of Palestinian suicide bombers sent on missions against Israel.
"Iran has become the leading supporter of suicide strikes as well as the Hamas welfare network in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip," a PA official said.
On June 1, the PA daily Al Hayat Al Jadida reported that Hamas-aligned Al Ansar received most of its funding from Iran. The newspaper said Al Ansar transferred $1.8 million to families of Palestinian suicide bombers.
Al Ansar Director Nafez Al Araj said his agency supports the families of 2,900 Palestinian dead or imprisoned fighters. Al Araj said the money was provided to rebuild homes destroyed by the Israeli military after their relatives blew themselves up in the Jewish state.
Since March, Iran has sent another $1.3 million to 2,020 families in the West Bank. Officials said the money has eased the fiscal crisis sparked by Western sanctions on the PA following the Hamas victory in legislative elections in January 2006.
Iran has also been financing Hamas weapons development and procurement.
Israeli security sources said Hamas is developing bombs with toxic chemicals capable of killing or maiming Israelis over a wider area than conventional explosives.
"Hamas is preparing for an escalation in the West Bank," a security source said. "When they do, the focus would be on mass-casualty attacks."
Much of the funding is reportedly transferred through couriers. Officials said Hamas has been smuggling millions of dollars from Iran and other allies through tunnels that link the Gaza Strip to Egypt.
Israel Security Agency Director Yuval Diskin told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee June 6 that $20 million has been smuggled to Hamas in the Gaza Strip since September 2005. Much of the money has also entered via couriers as well as through the Mediterranean Sea.

When is the world going to realize that we are at war. A war of ideologies and a war so rooted int he belief systems of Islam itself that it is essentially a war against western culture and a war against all NON-ISLAMIC groups, religions and regions.
