I condemn the government of Israel

There are many who believe Israel satan's whelp.
There are many who believe Israel utterly dependent on the USA and a follower.
There are many who believe the USA has no national security interest in Israel's future.

But in this place and time, as the vast preponderance of the americans wordlessly recognize, we are inextricably linked, and therefore in this war we now depend on Israel to be Israel.

We depend on them to be those who fearlessly planned the scourge of the Egyptian and Syrian air forcesin 1967 and risked the national survival to do so, and to win. We depend on Israel to be those who finding themselves outgunned on Yom Kippur 1973, thought and then fought their way to so nearly a complete an annihilation of the Egytpian Third army, and so unhindered a march on Damascus, that only american threats to cut them off completely stopped them from destroying the last armed forces in the middle east of national opposition to their existance as a state and people. We depend on them to be the civilian army that cored the five professional armies which invaded them at the moment of their birth. We depend on them to be those who, unafraid of failure, planned to save hundreds of their own, 2500 miles from home with no support and little time, and then DID so

But Ehud Olmert and the Israeli men governing and elected, and the military men who have not quit in righteous indignation have fulfilled Hassan Abassi's fatal pronouncement...

"The Western man today has no stomach for a fight," Abbasi says. "This phenomenon is not new: All empires produce this type of man, the self-centered, materialist, and risk-averse man."

From Frontpage:

As Israel nears the end of four weeks of fighting along the Lebanese border and seven weeks of fighting in Gaza, Israeli decision-makers appear guided by three main principles:
--avoidance of diplomatic sanctions;

--avoidance of military casualties;

-- and avoidance of domestic political blame for the countless and obvious mistakes in judgment being made at the upper levels of government and the army.

The Israeli govt has so far placed the political benefit of (lack of) IDF casualties above the lives of the people they are sworn to protect.

It is not the duty of the civilians to die for the army, it is the army's service and their duty and devotion to freedom and their families that make it possible for them to KILL THE ENEMY, and die doing so if needs be - which protects the populace.

Olmert and the Israeli govt have managed to invert the IDF's reason for existing

I condemn them.

From 100 to 300 Hizballah rockets have assailed Israel’s northern region every day for the last three and half weeks, while five or six Palestinian rockets have afflicted Israel’s south, but Prime Minister Olmert has still not allowed his government to call what is happening a “war.” The daily death toll has averaged between two to four Israelis until yesterday (Aug. 6) when 15 were killed, including 12 army reservists struck by rocket fire and shrapnel while waiting to be bused to their army units. The number of wounded civilians in the north has averaged between 150-200 civilians in the last few days. Meanwhile, the Olmert Government’s top ministers have been arguing with each other whether the army should move one or two kilometers into Lebanon or six kilometers into Lebanon, to the first hill ridge, or the second ridge. Publicly, Olmert and his colleagues say they want to “push Hizballah back from the border” and to regain two Israeli soldiers kidnapped from Israel to Lebanon by Hizballah and one other Israeli soldier kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Privately, Defense Minister Peretz has sought approval from Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice before okaying his own army’s operational ideas. Indeed, they ruled out using many of the previously prepared combat plans prepared by the IDF and simulated in expensive war games two and three months ago. “I don’t understand what we’re waiting for,” declared retired Major General Uri Simhoni, who criticized Olmert in a television appearance, noting that three Israeli armored divisions were mobilized and waiting to be used for more than one week.

"Every attempt to make war easy and safe will result in humiliation and disaster."

The enemy is THERE. It is OUR enemy as well. For all purposes in this world war, Hizballah IS the striking arm of Iran

KILL THEM TODAY. THE LOT OF THEM.
Win this for our sake as well as your survival.

We are depending on YOU this time.
And as of this moment, the Israeli leadership is letting americans down.

Thanks, ZY, my namesake indeed, but amazingly they appear to have it backwards, for it was Epa who crushed the spartans, and then formulated the strategy for a pre emptive war against them, leaving fortified democratic cities in his wake where the helots had been slaves for many hundreds of years - and destryoing Sparta after her victory in the Peloponesian war - forever.

By the time Epa arrived at Sparta, she was empty of armed men, and there was no resistance.

Hey Epa,

You get a mention on a letter sent to the American Thinker:

Um, not exactly you, but your namesake, anyway. ;-)
