Almost every key state held to the obviously ACCURATE polls. The 'forget the polls' mantra was bunk. Apparently there is science there as even the TIPP/IBD poll showed in the last 48 hours of the race. But where was the massive vote? People were looking for 130-150 million and we were nowhere close. Who voted? Kind of an important question

Our little rural town .... 661 McCain, 580 Obama.

First, I have to say I never had a single doubt we could elect a black man president. It just doesn't seem to be the accomplishment to me, it's being heralded as around the world. We are who we claimed to be.

Second, Obama is not Bill Clinton. Obama is way left, not a centrist. But he, as Clinton was and is blessed with his opponents, and that most important quantity, luck. However, don't kid yourself - luck is when opportunity meets preparedness, and Mr Obama was ruthlessly ready to take advantage of the failure of Lehman Bros. and the ensuing chaos.

The republicans however, have decayed from the party they were in 1980 to the Delay led corrupted, big spenders without any central ideology. They have blessed Obama with a fractured, ideologically void opposition. They stand for a confusing goop melange of objections, not programs or ideas, and they deserve EXACTLY what happened...which wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been

It should be obvious, that the Tom Tancredo 'kill immigration along with a secure border crowd', are dead. Just look at CO, NM, NV, and many other states' result. However, there is no doubt that a secure border and OPEN IMMIGRATION as we had from 1880-1924 is a winning position. We have to have a secure border, and we ARE the nation of massive immigration. Now this will place stress on ICE and State, but they do get paid, and State must be good for something.

The republicans should lead the charge on investigating the economic stupidities which lead to Lehman's collapse and the economic downturn INCLUDING the responsibility of those in Congress such as Frank and Dodd. AIG execs look like the walking dead in this one. Failure of the democrats to be act justly, IS CORRUPTION, and this should be trumpeted. If Abramov and 'Duke' Cunningham can go to jail, so can the execs at Countrywide, and Frank and Dodd.

The republicans need to hold to the idea that more govt is bad, UNLESS it is there to protect the citizen from harm domestic or foreign.

The republicans need to hold to the idea that outside this nation, people want to have the same free rights that we do, like telling the govt to go to hell, and we need to LEAD in that movement.

The republicans need to insist that we are in a war against Islamic extremism, that war has many forms, and that war is worldwide, and NOT of our making.

The republicans need to ruthlessly purge that party of bigotry hiding inside conservatism, by fearlessly naming names. Can anyone spell Buchanan? Think he is the conservative voice on MSNBC for a reason?

The Republicans haven't done so badly in the Senate or in the House, but they did that in spite of themselves, as a party without core ideas anymore, and now face a man who may govern not as Clinton did, but as a like minded leftist of the political ideals of Wright, Durbin, Ayers etc. If that is what he really is. We cannot know yet if Obama is a shadow man whose ideals are unknown as he took advantage of the far left Chicago political milieu, but we are going to find out. Soon.

Bellweathers...
Fairness Doctrine...he will discourage this idea IF AND ONLY IF he will govern from the center
Israel ... he will decide to be 'evenhanded' since Israel faces a 'political problem' in the ME not a religious one (an idea which Obama will say from the far left-  indicates support of the Likud, not of Israel, eh)..this is a prime accepted fact of the left..this one is liable to SPLIT THE NATION. IF Obama is going to govern from the center, he will not pressure Israel to do a damn thing. Otherwise he is going to find a hard 40%+ of the nation going GAGA.
The small ex-soviet republics like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the ex Warsaaw Pact nations all of whom are now Democracies and about whom Congressman Nadler said..."let Russia invade them ..they are next door"..if Obama governs from the center, he will leave no questions in Putin's mind about his attitude here
Missile defense..Obama promised to cut missile defense as unproven. This would be a galactic level, permanently indefensible error, and one the democrats like Carl Levin have been itching to make. A missile defense can harm no humans, and is useful only against weapons ALREADY LAUNCHED AT US or our allies.
Energy. Obama is going to have to move fast. If he makes good on his promises about coal (bankrupting coal fired electricity), ..Oil will go beyond the $150/barrel prices we saw a few months ago, and working people will watch as his promises go into into their oil tanks and gas tanks along with all of their disposable incomes, AND more, as they face a renewed struggle to pay the mortgage.
Right now, Barack Obama is my president. I wish him well in a lousy moment, in a lousy job.
I hope he leads from the center as he claims he would from the defeat of Hillary thru last night. If he does not the results will be a dramatic decline in re-enlistments in the armed forces, decreased entrepreneuship from the productive class of americans

Last, our tiny little corner of this where we move against Jihad of all kinds. If last night is not clear evidence that we can never succeed by allowing associations with groups who have called for a white europe, national identity, and amnesty for nazi collaborators, I cannot imagine what is. The american people have a long road ahead with the Muslim Brotherhood's 'grand (and silent)  jihad'. We cannot effect reverses against people like Hesham Islam, who was defended by an Asst SecDef like Gordon England, and a backed by a non entity like SecDef Robert Gates (who is so pablum-ized that some are calling for him to remain under Obama), from the Jim Baker School of accommodation when they can point to members of the movement who believe that ethnic nationalism is a valid national aspiration.

Schumer on Fox: Fairness Doctrine 'fair and balanced'
By Bob Cusack
Posted: 11/04/08 11:30 AM [ET]

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday defended the so-called Fairness Doctrine in an interview on Fox News, saying, "I think we should all be fair and balanced, don't you?"

Schumer's comments echo other Democrats' views on reviving the Fairness Doctrine, which would require radio stations to balance conservative hosts with liberal ones.

Asked if he is a supporter of telling radio stations what content they should have, Schumer used the fair and balanced line, claiming that critics of the Fairness Doctrine are being inconsistent.

"The very same people who don't want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that... But you can't say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That's not consistent."
Never mind the incredible reasoning..we are getting you loud and clear

Everyone who voted for Obama and the dems today.... YOU HAVE A HAND IN THIS.
THE END OF BROADCAST TALK RADIO.

In 2007, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), a close ally of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told The Hill, "It's time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine. I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they're in a better position to make a decision."

Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) last year said, "I believe very strongly that the airwaves are public and people use these airwaves for profit. But there is a responsibility to see that both sides and not just one side of the big public questions of debate of the day are aired and are aired with some modicum of fairness."

Conservatives fear that forcing stations to make equal time for liberal talk radio would cut into profits so significantly that radio executives would opt to scale back on conservative radio programming to avoid escalating costs and interference from the FCC.

They also note that conservative radio shows has been far more successful than liberal ones.

In his Fox interview, Schumer, who heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, also weighed in on the election, predicting that Democrats will end up with between 56 and 58 seats in the Senate.

He also defended "card check" legislation, claiming there is a strong need to allow workers a private ballot to register their votes on whether to organize a union.
Schumer said "there has to be some counter" to the leverage businesses have, claiming "employers have every leg up on people who want to organize and that's why union workers have gone down from about 25 percent to 6 percent [in the private sector]."

Business groups adamantly oppose the card check bill, which passed the House and fell short of the necessary votes to overcome a filibuster in the Senate.

Charles Schumer:

Enemy of Free Speech, enemy of secret ballot, whore for union money and contributions, unfit to be senator.

The divides in this nation are going to be historic.

Irretrievable.

Townhall:
A Repeat of 2004 Philly Voter Chaos, Fraud
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 7:46 AM
EXCLUSIVE, DEVELOPING--

GOP Election Board members have been tossed out of polling stations in at least half a dozen polling stations in Philadelphia because of their party status.

A Pennsylvania judge previously ruled that court-appointed poll watchers could be NOT removed from their boards by an on-site election judge, but that is exactly what is happening.

It is the duty of election board workers to monitor and guard the integrity of the voting process.

Denying access to the minority (in this case Republican) poll watchers and inspectors is a violation of Pennsylvania state law. Those who violate the law can be punished with a misdemeanor and subjected to a fine of $1,000 and sent to prison between one month and two years.

Those on site as describing it as "pandemonium" and there may be video coming of the chaos.

Some of the precincts where Republicans have been removed are: the 44th Ward, 12th and 13th divisions; 6th Ward, 12th division; 32nd Ward, Division 28.

"Election board officials guard the legitimacy of the election process and the idea that Republicans are being intimidated and banned for partisan purposes does not allow for an honest and open election process," said McCain-Palin spokesman Ben Porritt in a statement to Townhall.

The City of Brotherly Love was roiled in controversy during the 2004 election because of rigged voting machines that showed nearly 2,000 votes for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry before the polls had opened. A man also used a gun to intimidate poll workers at Ward 30, division 11 in 2004.
Beware of Exit Polls

Part of the frustration may stem from the fact that the primary value of exit polling is to help us understand why people voted the way they did. This is an entirely different task than trying to predict a winner for Internet junkies who can't wait a few more hours until actual votes are counted.

Reviewing Fox News/Rasmussen Reports data from key battleground states raises a couple red flags about the use of early exit polling data to predict a winner. Understanding this data from polling conducted last Sunday night may save some a repeat of 2004's heartache.

The bottom line is that in every state we polled--Colorado, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia-- Democrats are a lot more eager to take exit polls than Republicans.

In five of the six states, a majority of Democrats say they would be Very Likely to participate in the exit polling process. At the same time, in five of the six states, fewer than 40% of Republicans would be willing to do the same.

In every state, Republicans are at least twice as likely as Democrats to say that they are not at all willing to take an exit poll.

Unaffiliated voters tend to align more closely to Republicans in all six states in both willingness and unwillingness to participate in exit polls.

In Colorado, for example, 64% of likely voters say they are at least somewhat likely to take an exit poll. But take a closer look at the numbers: While 52% of Democrats say they are Very Likely to participate in an exit poll, just 36% of Republicans agree.

Left unsaid, is this true of all polls taken?

If so.....

I am sure we all know the story of Obama being ready and happy to bankrupt coal producers and coal fired power plants

HONOLULU - U.S. Navy officials say one of two short-range ballistic missiles shot from a military facility in Hawaii in a defense system test was hit by an interceptor missile fired from a Navy ship.

Vice Adm. Samuel J. Locklear says Saturday's trial marked the first time that the Navy -- rather than the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency -- oversaw the firing of a so-called Standard Missile-3 interceptor against a ballistic missile target.

The San Diego-based U.S. Third Fleet had command and control of the mission, in which two target missiles were fired from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai island.

An SM-3 fired from the USS Paul Hamilton directly hit the first target missile. Another ship, the USS Hopper, failed to intercept the second target missile that was fired.

Barack Obama has stated he will eliminate Missile defense....unproven

The candidates plunged through the final weekend of their race for the White House, the Republican digging for an upset while his confident-sounding rival told supporters, "We can change this country."

Indeed.

I support Andrew Bostom and Robert Spencer
Bostom supports Diana West
Diana West supports VB

Does that mean I support ethnic nationalism?

Anyone care to take that one up?

Anyone who has seen my posts and comments knows just how strongly I feel.

Charles Johnson has managed to parlay a righteous dislike for 'white europe' into some logical off the cliff pathway to considering Robert Spencer as supporting some of the unarguably racist commenters at GoV.

I don't know about the rest of you, but enough is enough.

If someone like the eminently sensible, and quite fair Spencer can be smeared in this way, it's time to look critically at the source.

Too bad, but THAT'S HOW IT IS TODAY

This entire mess has passed ridiculous, passed meaningful, passed stupid, past venal and it is now absurd.

I'm with Robert Spencer, and Andrew Bostom on this one.

Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: 'Selfishness'

October 31, 2008 10:58 AM

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That's the American dream, that's the American way, that's terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it's not just charity, it's not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it's that when we actually make sure that everybody's got a shot - when young people can all go to college, when everybody's got decent health care, when everybody's got a little more money at the end of the month - then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off.

lenin q1.jpgThe best way to help people into the middle class and above is to identify those who will work for it, those who have the need for and want more education, AND THEIR CHILDREN, and then to give them the path to achieve that end.

Giving people a check does NOT make poor people middle class.

Giving them a way to go from technician to MSEE WILL ABSOLUTELY.

With every word, with every further justification and explanation, Sen Obama is explaining very accurately who he is and what he believes.

He doesn't want to take our dreams in order to protect the nation from enemies foreign and domestic, he wants to take our dreams for ourselves and our children in order to DIMINISH them for a check to others ...who will never achieve theirs that way.

He really believes that to hold to the American dream for yourself and your children, IS SELFISHNESS.

I AM SELFISH
Oh and by the way....

"My friends Ken Follett and Susan Cheever are extremely worried. Naomi Wolf calls me every day. Yesterday, Jane Fonda sent me an email to tell me that she cried all night and can't cure her ailing back for all the stress that has reduces her to a bundle of nerves."

"My back is also suffering from spasms, so much so that I had to see an acupuncturist and get prescriptions for Valium."

"After having stolen the last two elections, the Republican Mafia..."

"If Obama loses it will spark the second American Civil War. Blood will run in the streets, believe me. And it's not a coincidence that President Bush recalled soldiers from Iraq for Dick Cheney to lead against American citizens in the streets."

"Bush has transformed America into a police state, from torture to the imprisonment of reporters, to the Patriot Act."

She also laments that not all of America's men of letters share her devotion to Obama.

"Tom Wolfe and John Updike are men of the right and Philip Roth is at this point a hermit who leads a monastic life in Connecticut, far from everything and everybody."

Luckily, she said there is her and Michael Chabon, who, she says, have "taken the place of Susan Sontag and Norman Mailer respectively."

They have the same political sensibilities, she said, but a better "sense of humor."

PURGE: SKEPTICAL REPORTERS TOSSED OFF OBAMA PLANE
Fri Oct 31 2008 08:39:55 ET

**Exclusive**

The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states -- and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president!

The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs -- and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama campaign says their reporters -- and possibly others -- will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama's historic campaign to become the first black American president.

MORE

Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more sympathetic members of the media, including the NY TIMES' Maureen Dowd, who once complained that she was barred from McCain's Straight Talk Express airplane.

After a week of quiet but desperate behind-the-scenes negotiations, the reporters of the three papers heard last night that they were definitely off for the final swing. They are already planning how to cover the final days by flying commercial or driving from event to event.

2 arrested for hanging Obama effigy on Ky. campus

- Associated Press Writer

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A University of Kentucky student and another man were arrested Thursday, accused of hanging a life-sized likeness of Barack Obama from a tree on the campus.

The incident was one of several in recent weeks involving effigies of the presidential candidates or their running mates. No charges have been filed in four other cases that have made national headlines.

UK Interim Police Chief Joe Monroe said the men "expressed remorse for a stunt that had gotten out of hand."

WeHo Homeowners Pull Down Sarah Palin Effigy

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (CBS) ― An effigy of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been taken down from a West Hollywood home, after the homeowner discussed the situation with the city's mayor.

The mannequin hanging by a noose was part of a larger Halloween display that included an effigy of John McCain coming out of the chimney surrounded by fake flames. The display has drawn national attention and a visit from the Secret Service, which decided there was no threat.

Earlier in the afternoon, neighbors covered up the Palin mannequin with sheets, in what was described as a friendly protest.
Last time I checked, mangling effigies WAS PROTECTED EFFING SPEECH
I hope thse college kids find some hotshot who is going to take this disorderly conduct charge and ram it and a back breaking monetary problem to the Fayette County Kentucky administration.

A free speech college stunt, perpetrated about a well known public figure is now ANOTHER example of how the minions of the one have been inculcated to think. These morons don;t know Obama, they are not trying to curry favor with Obama, they are looking at the behavior Obama has modeled, and are just following right along.

The polls still indicate a lead for Mr Obama.

His administration is not even an administration elect, and we have abuses.

Let's see if he has the balls to act within the Constitution and ENFORCE the document he might be sworn to protect and get those kids out of jail.
Or maybe he still wants to break free of those contstraints, eh?

Thumbnail image for obama_stalin copy.jpgA Federal Communications Commission investigation of on-air military analysts is providing a glimpse of what Democrats and an Obama administration will do to critics once they capture Washington.

The FCC has sent letters to some of the nation's most prominent military analysts -- some of them pro-President Bush and pro-war -- suggesting they may have broken the law when they appeared on television stations to comment on and explain the war on terrorism.

The FCC investigation raises the question of whether a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House next year will investigate -- and perhaps criminalize -- all sorts of actions taken by the Bush administration. Obama is leading in all presidential polls, while Democrats are set to greatly increase their hold on the House and Senate.
No big deal right?
Meanwhile the investigation of Joe the Plumber by Ohio STATE AGENCIES is  now being JUSTIFIED right in our face by :
your_attitude_has_been_noticed.jpg

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.

The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.

Jones-Kelley made the revelations in a letter to Ohio Senate President Bill M. Harris, R-Ashland, who demanded answers on why state officials checked out Wurzelbacher.

Here is her entire letter

Bald faced entitlement of government intimidation and and abuse of power. BALD FACED. They are entitled to investigate anyone they damn well please, essentially, IF THEY feel justified in doing so, and then sneaking the results out to a press eager to satisfy the new hypnotic cult leader(s)?

Think this is on CNN?

I have been watching CNN for about 2 hours today, and there has been no mention of Khalidi or the LA Times.

Pathetic ...back to military analysts who MIGHT be critical of THE BOSS and his NKVD apparatchik clones and guardian of 'truth' and right thinking..I get that no one wants to have criticism, but this well oiled, well organized program they have in place is not intimidating, it is enraging. Even more insane is the assumption that since they are on the side of right, they HAVE the right to proceed in any way that wins.

The FCC letters came at the behest of two House Democrats, who say the analysts parroted on air the private briefings they received at the Pentagon. This may have broken the law, the lawmakers said.

The probe is sending chills through the ranks of military commentators, some of them decorated war heroes who share their expertise with millions of lay viewers. They see it as one in a series of moves the Left is making to intimidate and shut up its critics.

"We are seeing the dawn of a new era of the current Democratic leadership trying to muzzle free speech and the First Amendment," retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney, a Fox News analyst, told HUMAN EVENTS. "It may be the most invasive intrusion that we have seen in our history. There will be more of these tactics to follow."

Said retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely, one of Fox's first defense analysts, "It's an affront to freedom of speech. As retired officers, we're private citizens and can say anything we want under the First Amendment. The whole thing was to explain to the American people what was going on in war and analyzing it."

A UNIFIER?

Even Jimmy Carter did not attempt to muzzle free speech in his crazy reign of stupidity

If the polls are correct, get ready for at least 4 unbelievably bitter and divisive years.

And wide swings of action and reaction

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

The crisis will be in the Middle East
The crisis will be over Israel

Obama's resolution will involve a historic strategic shift of American priorities from Israel and democracy, to Arab/Persian oil and 'recognition' of 'legitimate muslims grievances'.

There will be a firestorm in the United States.

The nation will be divided.

Barack Obama has appointed advisers who have expressed the belief that Walt and Mearsheimer are correct, or that Israel is THE PROBLEM in the Middle East, and that American who happen to be jews are the problem here - and in this vein they agree with Pat Buchanan.
THE THESIS:
"The bottom line is that AIPAC, which is a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on the U.S. Congress"

"The Lobby also has significant leverage over the Executive branch. That power derives in part from the influence Jewish voters have on presidential elections. Despite their small numbers in the population (less than 3 percent), they make large campaign donations to candidates from both parties. The Washington Post once estimated that Democratic presidential candidates "depend on Jewish supporters to supply as much as 60 percent of the money."76 Furthermore, Jewish voters have high turn‐out rates and are concentrated in key states like California, Florida, Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania"

"Manipulating the Media
In addition to influencing government policy directly, the Lobby strives to shape public perceptions about Israel and the Middle East. It does not want an open debate on issues involving Israel, because an open debate might cause Americans to question the level of support that they currently provide"
This battle, and this 'reasoning' has gone on since the day George Marshall told Harry Truman, that if he recognized Israel, not only would he resign as Secretary of State, but that he could not vote for him. It is continued today by people such as Michael Scheurer, and Robert Baer.

No doubt Barack Obama will couch this (if this paranoid fantasy is correct) as a more even handed approach. No doubt he wil tell us this will help quiet the 'root causes' of strife in the middle east, and then ramp up the pressure on Israel.

This division of the nation by the 'unifier' will cause the most egregious outbreak of criticism, backbiting and bitter condemnations back and forth imaginable. And then.....

Barack Obama, his blacked out connections, his suppressed tapes, his attacks smearing valid critics, his intimidation of those who might be sources for critics, his attempts to criminalize and silence .. have not gone unnoticed.

Melanie Phillips:
For all Obama's laid-back, attractive appearance this election is being fought in an atmosphere of menace. Menace in the way ACORN is intimidating voters into multiple registrations. Menace in the way criminal donations to the Obama campaign have been institutionalised. Menace in the serial lies being told by Obama, Biden and the campaign rebuttal team. Menace in the way the few remaining proper journalists such as Stanley Kurtz are finding sources of information shut down and themselves shut out when they attempt to probe Obama's deeply dubious associations. Menace in the smears and hysterical abuse directed at anyone who questions The One. Menace in the threat of violence if Obama doesn't win. Menace in the pre-emptive smear that the only thing that could bring about an Obama defeat is the inherent racism of the American voters - a smear that potentially identifies all those who vote against him as public enemies.

Over the past seven years, the media has created the Big Lie that America is the biggest rogue state in the world, with Israel its proxy.  Now it is ensuring that a man who will act on that very premise to crush America and destroy Israel will be placed in the White House to do so. It is not just that the west's Big Media can no longer be trusted. It has become the most important weapon in the arsenal of the enemies of the free world.

But of course, this is a paranoid delusion.

Barack Obama has told us he wants an undivided Jerusalem, right?

Barack Obama in his own words opined that it's a pity that the Supreme Court cannot legislate economic justice - the equalized outcome of all or any work efforts, and the diminution of reward for ingenuity, hard work and risk in favor of spreading that wealth, but that - AHAH, the legislature can.

He told Sam Wurzelbacher he wants to spread the wealth, HIS wealth

We have Michelle Obama telling us some people need to give things up:
"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
Can they make it any more plain?
Democratic Socialism.

More, he is just to the left side of the democratic leadership, but they all agree.

They can try to elide and distract from the reality that the purpose of their taxes is to give someones money directly to someone else, rather than run the govt, but please stop urinating on me and telling me its raining.

If this is the outcome of the election, and america selects this, then we are going to have trouble bigger than jihadists here as producers slack off, and thinkers find another way rather than the american dream. What will we strive for?

Neighborliness? Ensuring the waitress gets the right tip?

Europe's spiritual weakness (and I am not talking about religion) is no accident today.

That's what is in store for us.

Dreary slogging.

Nanny state.

That is what Mr. McCain should be thundering about with 7 days left.

Spend the ad money  on a national address on Sunday night Mr. McCain.

Leave nothing.

SINGAPORE (AP) - Oil prices fell to 17-month lows at $63 a barrel Monday in Asia as investors weighed Friday's OPEC output cut against growing evidence of a severe global economic slowdown that would undermine crude demand.

Light, sweet crude for December delivery fell 32 cents to $63.83 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Singapore.

Investors brushed off a 1.5 million barrel-a-day cut announced by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries on Friday, focusing instead on falling crude demand as economies across the globe reel from the impact of a credit crisis.

On Friday, oil fell $3.69 to settle at $64.15. Prices have plunged 57 percent from a record $147.27 on July 11.

"The mood is fairly negative reflecting worry about the international economic outlook," said David Moore, a commodity strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney. "If there is further weak economic data in the U.S. or Europe, prices could come under more downward pressure."

Iran's OPEC governor Mohammad Ali Khatibi said Sunday a reduction in production "will be considered" at the group's next meeting in Algiers in December--a meeting that might even be held early if necessary.

"I thought the OPEC cut was a fairly decisive act, but concerns of recession in the major economies remain dominant," Moore said. "OPEC's cut does take a step toward tightening the market."

Investors have been paying close attention to signs that a slowing economy and higher gasoline prices earlier this year have hurt crude demand in the U.S., the world's largest oil consumer.

The U.S. Department of Transportation said Friday that Americans drove 5.6 percent less, or 15 billion fewer miles, in August compared with same month a year ago--the biggest single monthly decline since the data was first collected regularly in 1942.

Anyone else wondering if the discretionary dollars and mandatory dollars removed from the American economy in order to fill tanks as gas costs skyrocketed in the last 2 years, and go to work and have ANY chance to keep paying mortgages, had anything to do with the inability to pay mortgages, even the ARM's which contributed to the foreclosures, and oversupply of housing, which gutted the values of homes and then mortgage backed securities that has caused all this?
The dollar value is increasing, and T-bills are going up as capital seeks safety like water flowing downhill. Are we going to be in a superior condition COMPARATIVELY at the end of all this?
Someone making $450,000/year paying more taxes than I do in order to buy another F-35, fix interstate highways, pay employees who guard our borders, or the prez, award a grant to help cure heart disease, or even study the climate IS NOT - taking that person's money in order to give money to some other citizen to correct the balance between rich and poor.

I have no doubt any longer that too many democrats cannot make that distinction.

The culture wars PALE beside this difference.

I just listen to Howard Wolfson on FOX say that Barbara West's questions were TOTALLY out of line because progressive taxation has been around for a very long time.

That means he is either disingenuous or BLIND. I think he is blind.

Now with Obama's unguarded, genuine sincere belief's opened with both Joe the Plumber AND on the radio interview in 2001

we see that the democratic party at the national level wants something far different from the constitution of private property, and the American dream, either for us or for our children.
This party now believes that taking the fruit of ingenuity, labor and risk is more important than enhancing the opportunity for same ...the system which has gotten us to this point. They believe it is a ZERO sum game.

Others believe that those who can make the pie grow should be allowed to do so, otherwise, discouraged they will simply slink back, as the govt is clearly going to encourage them to do, and slack off in proportion to the confiscation of their effort, mind, and entrepreneurship.

CAVEAT EMPTOR AMERICA

When confronted by by unpleasant facts, questions and data, the Obamanists have reacted with intimidation, criminalization and smears.

If the reaction to the Republican Jewish Committee, and yesterday's properly critical, rather than fawning interview of Joe Biden, are the measure, when they can't escape by whining and threatening, they just won't talk.

Obama campaign cuts off WFTV after interview with Joe Biden

WFTV-Channel 9's Barbara West conducted a satellite interview with Sen. Joe Biden on Thursday. A friend says it's some of the best entertainment he's seen recently. What do you think?

West wondered about Sen. Barack Obama's comment, to Joe the Plumber, about spreading the wealth. She quoted Karl Marx and asked how Obama isn't being a Marxist with the "spreading the wealth" comment.

"Are you joking?" said Biden, who is Obama's running mate. "No," West said.

West later asked Biden about his comments that Obama could be tested early on as president. She wondered if the Delaware senator was saying America's days as the world's leading power were over.

"I don't know who's writing your questions," Biden shot back.

Biden so disliked West's line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate's wife.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

McGinnis said the Biden cancellation was "a result of her husband's experience yesterday during the satellite interview with Barbara West."

WFTV news director Bob Jordan said, "When you get a shot to ask these candidates, you want to make the most of it. They usually give you five minutes."

Jordan said political campaigns in general pick and choose the stations they like. And stations often pose softball questions during the satellite interviews.

"Mr. Biden didn't like the questions," Jordan said. "We choose not to ask softball questions."

Jordan added, "I'm crying foul on this one."

What did you think of the interview?

Frank envisions post-election stimulus from Democrats
October 24, 2008 6:00 AM

NEW BEDFORD -- After the November election, Democrats will push for a second economic stimulus package that includes money for the states' stalled infrastructure projects, along with help paying for healthcare expenses, food stamps and extended unemployment benefits, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank said Thursday.

Thumbnail image for bozoUSA_420w.jpg

In a meeting with the editorial board of The Standard-Times, Rep. Frank, D-Mass., also called for a 25 percent cut in military spending, saying the Pentagon has to start choosing from its many weapons programs, and that upper-income taxpayers are going to see an increase in what they are asked to pay.

No matter what else happens the republican party at the national level needs to make a project out of removal of Frank.

Murtha, Frank, Conyers, Waters, and several others need to be targeted for defeat.

They do not serve the long term benefits of the people of the USA. They answer to a narrow clique, and have all been in congress FAR TOO LONG.

The military cuts also mean getting out of Iraq sooner, he said.

"The people of Iraq want us out, and we want to stay over their objection," he said. "It's extraordinary." The Maliki government in Iraq "can't sell (the withdrawal deal with the U.S.) because it sounds like we're going to stay too long."

"I was teasing (U.S. Rep.) Jack Murtha (a key supporter of military budgets) and I said to him, 'For the first time, somebody else has got a bill that's almost as big as yours.' We don't need all these fancy new weapons. I think there needs to be additional review."

Rep. Frank called on President Bush to appoint a senior official to guide the economic stimulus packages through the transition to the Barack Obama or John McCain administration when it takes office in January.

And he said that if the Democrats can't find an adequate agreement on a stimulus package in the lame-duck Congress, they would rather wait until the new Congress takes over -- likely with many more Democrats, if polling results bear fruit in the November voting.

Government computers used to find information on Joe the Plumber
Investigators trying to determine whether access was illegal
Friday,  October 24, 2008 8:57 PM
The Columbus Dispatch
"State and local officials are investigating if state and law-enforcement computer systems were illegally accessed when they were tapped for personal information about "Joe the Plumber."

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher became part of the national political lexicon Oct. 15 when Republican presidential candidate John McCain mentioned him frequently during his final debate with Democrat Barack Obama.

The 34-year-old from the Toledo suburb of Holland is held out by McCain as an example of an American who would be harmed by Obama's tax proposals.

Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher's driver's license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate.

Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.

To some people who have a sense of self righteous entitlement (without reference to any party, or conadidate), any common person who iconically identifies ANY political weakness they have, must be stomped on, both to win and to serve as a lesson to the rest of the common people.

Where was this illegal access done from?

Records show it was a "test account" assigned to the information technology section of the attorney general's office, said Department of Public Safety spokesman Thomas Hunter.

Brindisi later said investigators have confirmed that Wurzelbacher's information was not accessed within the attorney general's office. She declined to provide details. The office's test accounts are shared with and used by other law enforcement-related agencies, she said.

So we have at least a moderate degree of sophistication...or what always gets the morons... a coverup.

moment of revelation described himself as a man to whom - having the govt enforce the taking of things from those who imagine and act and strive in order to give it to those who do not, or have given up, or cannot is far more important than HAVING the american dream, for yourself or your children. These are not taxes meant for the running of the govt, they are meant for Mr. Obama's different society of even outcomes.

I'm real sorry if Sam Adams and Ben Franklin are spinning in their graves and we all know it.

I'm even sorrier if IN THIS CASE some people feel a normal guy like Mr. Wurzelbacher should be subjected to the blood sport of american politics just because Obama is who he is, and was in the Wurzelbacher's neighborhood.

I'm sure there are republican morons just like whoever did this.

And that is the problem. These people feel they HAVE THE RIGHT, and ARE RIGHT TO DO SO.

Well now, Joe has struck back, and he well should.

Joe 'scared for America' after talking to Obama

(Contact)
Saturday, October 25, 2008

Joe the Plumber all but came out of the water closet for Sen. John McCain on Friday, saying that his famous exchange with Sen. Barack Obama made him "scared for America" and that he doesn't trust the Democratic presidential candidate on taxes.

The plumber, aka Joe Wurzelbacher, burst into the headlines after he buttonholed Mr. Obama less than two weeks ago during a campaign stop in his Holland, Ohio, neighborhood and quizzed him about his tax policy. On Friday, he said that he wasn't impressed by the Illinois senator in their encounter.

"When I was face to face with him, my honest first impression was that I expected something more. I had heard so much about 'his presence' in the media that I was surprised to find that he seemed very average," Mr. Wurzelbacher wrote in a live online chat on WashingtonTimes.com (read the transcript with Mr. Wurzelbacher here).

"My gut feeling as he answered my questions? I was scared for America," he wrote in response to a reader who asked "When you were face to face with Obama, what were you thinking and how did it feel?"

Mr. Wurzelbacher, arguably the world's most famous plumber, has become a cornerstone of Mr. McCain's Republican campaign, which had embarked on a statewide blitz across Florida in a series of "Joe the Plumber" events aimed at blue-collar workers.

And since he has already suffered the slings and arrows of these execrable people.....

'Joe the Plumber' Considers Run for Congress

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher tells Laura Ingraham he'd be up for a run for Congress.

jimmy_stewart_Mr.jpg

'Joe the Plumber' may consider running for Congress in 2010.

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher told Laura Ingraham, in an appearance on her show Friday, he'd consider it.

Wurzelbacher would be challenging longtime Rep. Marcy Kaptur.

"I'll tell you what, we'd definitely be in one heck of a fight," Wurzelbacher said, "but, you know, I'd be up for it."

We have lost our ability to believe in happy endings. People like Obama and his philosophies are why.

Hey Joe, time for some Capra.

Billiings, Montana Gazette:
Political attacks came from Romania
Sands files complaint with commissioner of political practices
Republicans, furious about negative campaign phone calls made by Democrats last week in Billings, did everything but label the tactic un-American.

Turns out, they could have.

The calls were made from Romania, according to phone records submitted this week to the state commissioner of political practices.

Jack Sands, a GOP candidate in Senate District 27 and the target of the Oct. 12 calls, filed the complaint alleging that the people making the calls didn't identify who they were calling for. Senate District 27 includes parts of Billings and Yellowstone County. State law prohibits anonymous election material.
"They're obviously spending thousands of dollars to defeat me," Sands said. "You'd think the least they could have done was to provide some jobs in Montana instead of exporting jobs to Romania. Maybe they couldn't find Montanans with the stomach to make the calls."

The gist of the calls, according to voters who spoke with The Gazette last week, was thatmichelle_obama_scolding_downright_mean.jpg Sands supports drug dealers and wants to keep them out of prison. What they didn't say was that Sands is a criminal defense attorney who represents the accused for a living.

Often, the people making the calls failed to identify with whom they were affiliated, provided unverifiable names or hung up. Voters with caller ID said the source phone number for the negative calls came up 406-000-0000.

Sands hired a detective, Dale Mortensen, to trace the origin of the calls. Mortensen worked with voter Echo Jamieson, who got Bresnan Communications to release its log of incoming and outgoing calls related to her account. The 406-000-0000 calls, of which Jamieson received six in four hours, originated in Romania, according to Bresnan.

It's UNBELIEVABLE!

Joe Klein, Time Magazine.
This is reporting facts?

General David Petraeus deployed overwhelming force when he briefed Barack Obama and two other Senators in Baghdad last July. He knew Obama favored a 16-month timetable for the withdrawal of most U.S. troops from Iraq, and he wanted to make the strongest possible case against it. And so, after he had presented an array of maps and charts and PowerPoint slides describing the current situation on the ground in great detail, Petraeus closed with a vigorous plea for "maximum flexibility" going forward. Obama had a choice at that moment. He could thank Petraeus for the briefing and promise to take his views "under advisement." Or he could tell Petraeus what he really thought, a potentially contentious course of action -- especially with a general not used to being confronted. Obama chose to speak his mind. "You know, if I were in your shoes, I would be making the exact same argument," he began. "Your job is to succeed in Iraq on as favorable terms as we can get. But my job as a potential Commander in Chief is to view your counsel and interests through the prism of our overall national security." Obama talked about the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, the financial costs of the occupation of Iraq, the stress it was putting on the military.

A "spirited" conversation ensued, one person who was in the room told me. "It wasn't a perfunctory recitation of talking points. They were arguing their respective positions, in a respectful way." The other two Senators -- Chuck Hagel and Jack Reed -- told Petraeus they agreed with Obama. According to both Obama and Petraeus, the meeting -- which lasted twice as long as the usual congressional briefing -- ended agreeably. Petraeus said he understood that Obama's perspective was, necessarily, going to be more strategic. Obama said that the timetable obviously would have to be flexible. But the Senator from Illinois had laid down his marker: if elected President, he would be in charge. Unlike George W. Bush, who had given Petraeus complete authority over the war -- an unprecedented abdication of presidential responsibility (and unlike John McCain, whose hero worship of Petraeus bordered on the unseemly) -- Obama would insist on a rigorous chain of command.

obama_votive.jpgBarack Obama has prospered in this presidential campaign because of the steadiness of his temperament and the judicious quality of his decision-making. They are his best-known qualities.
What does all this tell us? What facts can be gathered from the cornucopia of Obama ass kissing?
1) Obama IS GOING to push the edge of throwing Iraq away as a gift to the Mullahs across the border
2) Hagel and Reed agree with this plan
3) Joe Klein is a foolish man whose bias is so unbelievably obvious and contrives his writing that he has no business in Time. He belongs over at Counterpunch, or at best, The Nation.

The fawning goes on....
The most important decision he has made -- the selection of a running mate -- was done carefully, with an exhaustive attention to detail and contemplation of all the possible angles. Two months later, as John McCain's peremptory selection of Governor Sarah Palin has come to seem a liability, it could be argued that Obama's quiet selection of Joe Biden defined the public's choice in the general-election campaign.
I can only hope that there are enough people who read this .....STUFF.. that see it for precisely what it is.

A COMMERCIAL FOR BARACK OBAMA
FREE IN TIME MAGAZINE
PENNED BY JOE KLEIN

From THE WEEK, "All you need to know about everything that matters"

Don't go wobbly, Dems

Two weeks to go--time enough for one last case of Democratic wobbles and one last resort fueled by Republican desperation.

Democrats, scarred by the stolen election of 2000 and the near miss of 2004, privately worry, wring their hands and, traveling cyberspace's vast expanse, trip over a discouraging word, poll, or prediction. Generally, they needn't look farther than the Drudge Report, which shamelessly selects information--and disinformation--in order to stereotype Barack Obama and denigrate his prospects.

With genuine anguish, one Democrat said to me Sunday, "Did you see Drudge has Obama only 2.7 percent ahead?"

It wasn't actually Drudge, but a poll by Zogby, which Drudge had cherry picked for its pessimism. (Unlike Drudge, Zogby isn't biased; he famously elected Kerry in 2004.) Rasmussen's poll used to be Drudge's favorite, but on Sunday it showed Obama leading by six, so Drudge swept it under the rug.

Joe the Plumber, yesterday's gimmick, isn't a plumber and he isn't even named Joe. So McCain has cranked up charges of "socialism" against an opponent endorsed by Warren Buffet and Robert Rubin. Can't somebody tell McCain he's running in 2008, not 1918?

Beyond this threadbare scare on taxes, all that's left to McCain is a Rovian appeal to the darkest impulses of the American people. McCain's tactics, his running mate and his supporters have spread a venom that could poison American politics for years to come. Ayers, ACORN, Jeremiah Wright, the attempt to make Obama "the other"--for many on the right, this election all comes down to race.

For the democrats, any loss is about race, any criticism, Rovian and about race. Opposition is, and must be evil

To paraphrase Kierkegaard, some Democrats may be suffering a perennial case of fear and trembling unto defeat. But that's not how it will end this time. It will be the Palin revanchists (and McCain's own minimally enthusiastic brigades) crying into their six packs on election night. Not even on Drudge will they find a consoling electoral count.

I have a better prediction.
The predilection to treat critics as evil, the urge to criminalize and silence opposition, the hiding of Obama's past, the still raw thoughts that 2000 was stolen, as if it were the Palestinians' legend of stolen orange groves, the uniform desire to bring back the Fairness Doctrine (which will be signed by Obama) among this apparently coming large majority, the outright socialist desires not to tax in order run the government but in order to take from one to give to another, and appear to be Robin Hood, the coming hearings into Iraq once sworn in for the purpose pf prosecution, the new administration's attitude that we do evil in the world, will ultimately cause the regeneration of Goldwater Conservatism 2.0, with the religious tinge which always smelled faintly of hypocrisy, BANISHED.

This will be an administration of a super Church Commissions. Items of real reform needed will be swept away by nascent anti americanism and anti republicanism of bestial partisanship, masqerading as reform, and end up doing far more damage to the american people's personal security.  Get ready America. You are voting for it out of fear.

Not me.
Secretary of State - John F(rench) Kerry, who will presumably be lobbying Ban Ki Moon for a appt to schedule a meeting of the general assembly whenever we want to move our troops about.

Secretary of Defense - Chuck (The surge won't work, and who needs Israel, and beware the "Jewish Lobby") Hagel. Of course this would only be somewhat worse than, the indescribably horrific Gates/Gordon England we don't need F-22's and we like Hesham Islam and hate WIlliam Coughlin Defense dept of Bush. Oh and by the way, is it me or does Hagel complete the series:
Zbig, McPeak, Powers ...... thus providing a nice creme brulee to Mr. Obama's meal of serious  problems of worrying dimensions of the hymietown category with americans who happen to be jewish

WHAT MUST THEY BE THINKING OVERSEAS?

Anyone else wondering what plans are in store in Tel Aviv if Obama wins this thing?

Here's a tip of the iceberg for you to think about.

Until the late 1990's Israel had a very good strategic relationship with China. China's J-10 fighter (except for the engine, it's the Lavi) and desire to buy Israel's Phalcon Airborne Early Warning System are clear evidence of that. More, the USA had to pull out ALL the stops to halt Israel from selling the Phalcon just in 2007, for fear american plots would face the Chinese over Taiwan. This China  acts with an untrammeled conscience in many places. Israel until VERY RECENTLY and only with the exception of the USA has alwasy stated it would depend on no other nation, since all nations including this one did nothing directly about the Holocaust, including simply allowing in immigrants. The USA is not the only nation which might be available as a prime strategic ally despite the obvious appearance and fact that China wants Iran's oil. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Oil will be sold no matter who is in charge in Iran.

Think outside the box

Here we have a man IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD who now must be disfigured and ruined because he committed the most heinous of sins. He disagreed with the One. To his face. On TV. And it hit the target. He exposed the lie of the common man not possibly being other than a supporter. But never mind, the organization which seeks to criminalize criticism, silence opposition, and intimidate thorough analysis now, machine like acquires Joe. Samuel J.Wurzelbacher. And the message sent is quite clear...'if any of you pop your heads up, and really want to speak up in Obama's America...this is what it's going to be like'. The HYPOCRISY of these people is breathtaking.

He is not a politician
marx_demo from each.jpgHe is not a smear merchant
He is not a spin expert
He does not make speeches
He is not even a blogger

He is a private guy with struggles JUST LIKE US.

JUST LIKE US.

And this man JUST LIKE US is being attacked just as if he were Sarah Palin right now, because HE SPOKE UP IN AMERICA.

So we have his union trying to ruin him with the information he has not passed their license test. No doubt he will face dismemberment from the plumber's board for using a wrench without a license to practice. We have his tax issues, PERSONAL tax issues exposed, and gee doesn't  that just make him EVEN MORE JUST LIKE US.

I was assaulted last night by commercials from Obama all telling me how CONCERNED he was going to be with my problems for the next four years.

Change? You bet. Worse than any democrat's nightmare of Karl Rove is the democratic naitonal leadership and their attitude of entitlement and self righteous views of what govt should be. And their attitude of what opposition should receive.
Even for men and women JUST LIKE US.

Bushitler? Is it that they cannot help but credit (by hyperbole one assumes) their enemies with what they know THEY would do?

I still can't believe the lengths.

These people are going to cause a backlash of incredible proportions

At a rally which had been made public only 3 days before, in a town of 26k, we arrived 40 minutes before speech time to find an astonishing crowd of 3-4 thousand OUTSIDE the large maintenance hangar which had been open for admittance for half an hour. Eventually the crowd grew SO LARGE that they gave up completely on security, and opened a huge access door to allow everyone in about 5 minutes before the plane carrying the well liked Sen Olympia Snowe, Lee Greenwood, and Sarah Palin arrived. I am going to guess the size of the crowd at 5-7k, but I have no bona fides in that regard. Any way you want to look at it though, by the size and volume, and ebullience of the crowd, John McCain may well get 1 elector for the 2nd District of Maine which is roughly from Augusta to the border north and east.
palin_bgr1.jpg
As the plane taxied to the door, whoever was warming up the crowd was totally drowned out by chants of SA-RAH SA-RAH....it was impossible to think. The last crowd I was in that loud was in 1969 for the NY Mets.

About every 10th sign was Mrs. Palin as Rosie the riveter

Lee Greenwood came out and sang the Star Spangled Banner, and then "Proud to be an American". Then Sarah Palin came forward in the Red Dress. She smiled like she was ready to dance on the grave of some poor bastard. The women went apeshit. Something to learn there.

Mrs. Palin remarked as how she felt at home among the Carhartt's, Stihl Chain Saw and NRA clothing which set off the crowd, a theme she returned to later as she mentioned the 2nd amendment. The volume and length of the response to that alerts one to the fact that Mainers know the constitution.

They also responded wildly to the identification of Obama's plans with big government, socialism, and confiscatory wealth redistribution. There were not so many in the crowd I think who qualified for the $250k tax increase limit as well.
PA160123.JPG
The back right 1/4 of the crowd in Bangor

Out near the entrance to the airport there were 50-100 Obama protestors with vairous signs MOSTLY related to Mrs. Palin as a warmonger, anti abortion person, MOSTLY of college age (U Maine is 8 miles away in Orono) or younger.
When I flashed them THIS sign as we walked by amazingly,....they shut up
OBAMA_JOE_THE_PLUMBER 420 copy.jpgMaybe one or two will figure out who said that. One women, middle aged said, "Yes but I am a pro choice woman". Valid criticism for sure, but that is not the only issue, is it. Later as the press riser smack dead center in the hangar scanned the crowd Mrs. Epa kept shoving the sign in fron of the cameras

A well spent morning full of vigorous spirit. Sarah Palin is a zinger on the stump and fills in just what Sen McCain cannot easily convey, the depth and passion over what Sen Obama represents, and what he REALLY believes. While John McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all comment warily lest they offend one kind of constituency or another, Mrs. Palin just let's it all hang out there, and then you have to make up your mind. It is just that which powers the more disgusting insults she has endured. She's not afraid to find out you just don't like her for what she believes. That's your problem.

She's the girl in high school ..the cheerleader, choir soloist, gymnast, best looker, who wouldn't go out with you, not because she was too good for you, but because she really WAS too busy with the meeting for National Honor Society. Nerds sense this and hate her beneath the level of words and policy.
And anyone who understands it is no swing voter.

Who is John Galt?

What will you do, Obama, when enough of the producers and thinkers don't think it's worth it, and all future history points to this moment for the beginning of the slide?

Point one:

PREPARE for a new America: That's the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.

He promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration."

The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.

Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.

Point two:

Is Jackson worried about the "Bradley effect" - that people may be telling pollsters they favor the black candidate, but won't end up voting for him?

"I don't think this is how things will turn out," he says. "We have a collapsing economy and a war that we have lost in Iraq. In Afghanistan, we face a resurgent Taliban. New threats are looming in Pakistan. Our liberties have been trampled under feet  (Calling Stanley Kurtz). . . Today, most Americans want change, and know that only Barack can deliver what they want. Young Americans are especially determined to make sure that Obama wins."

He sees a broad public loss of confidence in the nation's institutions: "We have lost confidence in our president, our Congress, our banking system, our Wall Street and our legal system to protect our individual freedoms. . . I don't see how we could regain confidence in all those institutions without a radical change of direction."

Summary:

His most surprising position concerns Iraq. He passionately denounces the toppling of Saddam Hussein as "an illegal and unjust act." But he's now sure that the United States "will have to remain in Iraq for a very long time."

On Iran, he strongly supports Obama's idea of opening a direct dialogue with the leadership in Tehran. "We've got to talk to tell them what we want and hear what they want," Jackson says. "Nothing is gained by not talking to others."

Jackson is especially critical of President Bush's approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"Bush was so afraid of a snafu and of upsetting Israel that he gave the whole thing a miss," Jackson says. "Barack will change that," because, as long as the Palestinians haven't seen justice, the Middle East will "remain a source of danger to us all."

"Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims," Jackson says. "Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel while remaining committed to his own faith."

We could dismiss this as the ignorant ravings of one man, except for:

(WrightMalleyPowersRiceZbigAyersDorhnMcPeak)

What kind of  morons will be voting for this man?

Yesterday, Barack Obama made one of the most astonishing mini speeches to a plumber I have ever heard in a prez election.
It's here.

marx_demo from each.jpg"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too." says the Obama.

So, instead of scholarship grants to those who have the aptitude and intelligence, but not the assets for, say an EE degree specializing in photo voltaic research, he is going to have the govt under the threat of violence (which IS what we grant the govt here) seize the assets of those who have worked hard, and send checks to others he thinks should get them.

Now he wasn't talking to some Heinz inheritor, or child of of a rich landed Senator, or some lottery winning ne'er do well ..Obama was talking to a plumber.

And as I understand it, those who already don't pay taxes, will get a check from those who are doing well, instead of a tax cut.  Why waste time with ACORN buying fraudulent Obama voter registrations ?

Just hold auctions in every county.

I remember when Walter Mondale was the model of someone to liberal. But today out of fear of the economy we are going to elect an outright, WHAT ... what is the word for someone who believes the govt has the innate right to as much of your property as they deem necessary for others, a right as inalienable as any moved towards in 1776?

marx_demo is the raod to socialism.jpgAnyone here trust Pelosi, Reid, Frank with the money, even if morally obtained?

This election is going to make the partisan divide bitterly irreparable.

Voter fraud, Obama's history, the vengefulness of the left, the attacks on critics....

In the back ground of the freely elected democratically dominated congress which has already made its preference for silencing vocal criticism known, and a presidential nominee who has tried to criminalize same, lies the ability to appoint judges who will change the world via legislation from the bench, and NOT just in the Supreme Court. The lauded EXCEPTIONAL ruling of 1954 which altered the world correctly to insist on equal opportunity is now made the case, and the model, whenever a group wants to change the nature of the republic to something other.

Barack Obama is not fit to be president of THIS nation of 1789, or 1865, or 1918, or 1932, or 1941, or 2001. Is he fit for 2008?

Are we ready to turn the govt over to people all of whom believe the govt is all instead of us helping ourselves?

We get the govt we deserve.

One cigarette

Anyone watching the Ohio Board of Elections live hearings this morning, was able to hear how ACORN cajoled people to sign multiple voter registration upon KNOWING citizens for ONE CIGARETTE.

Why does this organization get any federal money, and HOW is Barack Obama connected to them?

The party which brays every four years that the republican are going to starve the poor children, and throw old people out in the streets about this time of the campaign, now has a new meme.

Thanks to the head of the Black caucus, we now see the COHERENT Obama Boo Hoo.jpgPLAN to silence criticism ..valid or invalid, is one piece with the attempt to criminalize same, and that the it is democratic party, their now slavish helpers like Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd (and if THAT column is not a self definition of elitism, I can't imagine what is) as well as Barack Obama himself who are agreed that only THEY can be the arbiters of what fair dissent really is.

Today while they IGNORE Obama appointing those who feel "American Jews have a stranglehold on congress" they state that McCain's criticism really are those of a George Wallace warning they (McCain and Palin) are "playing with fire".

Maybe playing with fire is Tony McPeak (who Obama appointed chief military adviser) stating that there is no peace in the middle east because of "certain people in NY and Miami" , uh, just say BAGEL EATERS.

Maybe playing with fire is 20 years listening to a clearly anti american man who says we DESERVED 9/11 because the 'chickens are coming home to roost' while damning us all, AND PRAISING THE OTHER RACIST LOUIS FARRAKHAN, a man who names Israel a gangster state, and who considers the act which ended WW2 a war crime and remaining there for it all, then INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE by telling us, you never heard such a thing.

Maybe playing with fire is a joint association with a man who is revolutionizing american youth to the theories of the Weather Underground via his position, and who HAPPENS to earlier have been a violent revolutionary and terrorist whose group committed murders, and then INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE by telling us, you never knew.

Maybe playing with fire is inculcating a spirit inside your marriage that there is scant reason to be proud of this nation (where 650,000 union men died freeing the slaves), and that we are "downright mean" while we "hold onto our ignorance".

Maybe playing with fire is being attorney for a group whose clear agenda is to overwhelm the system those 650,000 men died for, and to end up with an entirely different kind of nation, where property is evil, and working people are a chimera of a phrase to be trotted out by 'those who know best'

Maybe playing with fire is the organized effort to use the law to arrest, intimidate and silence harsh criticism, and expect that to not cause opposition to harden and become ENDEMIC regardless of the election's outcome

But never mind all that, because now that the Keating 5 line has failed and your scrotums are tightening up over there, you know what lines to trot out to reach the next level and try to ensure McCain goes on the defensive.

Forget it.

We are not racists.

Obama has multiple problems along the lines of J HYMIETOWN Jackson

Obama chose to be in a church for decades which preached against American values and systems

Obama chose associations with men and women whose prime wish was a very different america from the one we inherited via the Constitution

These are the facts.

Election success guarantees DEEPER DIVISIONS now because of the false, outrageous and disgusting charges and comparisons made wit NO FACTUAL BASIS.

The attempt to silence and criminalize criticism of Barack Obama is going to forge opppostion which will never diminish, because you have ignited suspicion that not only do you wish to see the system changed, you wish to see it's balances altered permanently, because you believe your cause's "justice" allows it.

Not even Richard NIxon in 1973 and 1974 has inflamed my anger to this level.

Sen McCain we all implore you...
We don't have coups
We don't have riots (very often, and seldom political ones)
We had only one revolution

We have elections, and they are bloodsport for a reason.

Mr. Obama's relationships of a voluntary nature stretch from his past to the present with people and paint a silhouette of a man unqualified to be president for reasons having little to do with inexperience.

His foreign advisers:
obama_on_zbig.jpgZbigniew Brzezinski - agrees with Walt and Mearsheimer, that americans who happen to be jewish have a "stranglehold on congress", "manipulate the press", and "time their donations to affect the outcome of presidential elections". He believes that those jews who criticize him becasue of this are "McCarthyites"

Samantha Powers - "anytime a jew critizes Obama it is always about Israel"

Merril McPeak - there is no peace in the ME because of 'certain people in NYC and Miami'

Robert Malley - negotiating with HAMAS

His mentor - Jeremiah Wright and his anti american vile rhetoric which could NOT have gone unnoticed

Wright's long praise of Farrakhan

Ayer's and the Annenberg mini cover up, and Ayer's history which could NOT have gone unnoticed

Unguarded comments about being proud of this nation, and that we are clinging to our ignorance and downright mean (Michelle Obama), and or clinging to guns and religion.

The attempts to criminalize, intimidate and silence scholarly critics such as Stanley Kurtz, and others, who may be less scholarly or not

ACORN

His utter ignorance of the situation in Pakistan (does he really believe the Pakistanis dislike us because we supported a dictator? ..he better tell Pew). How does he propose we support the men and women in landlocked Afghanistan after Pakistan cuts them off?

The silhouette presented by these voluntary associations and opinions demonstrate that Barack Obama cannot possibly be qualified to be president.

Bring these all together and FACE HIM DOWN next week, Sen McCain.

Get in that A-4, and "ATTACK, REPEAT ATTACK" (Maybe you've seen that before, sir)

"It's time that you two are representing us, and WE are MAD. So go get'em"

John McCain, why aren't you thundering this message?

John McCain where is the outrage?

Why are the people still leading ?

Is this IGNORANCE indicative of the next president of the United States?
Does he actually BELIEVE what he said?
Will McCain's team let this stupid stupid thought pass?

From Pew, this May:
Anti-Americanism in Muslim countries runs deep. For instance, in addition to their unfavorable views of the United States as a country, many Muslims in the Middle East and elsewhere see the American people in a negative light--less than one-third of Egyptians, Moroccans, Palestinians, Pakistanis and Turks have a positive opinion of Americans. In a 2005 Pew study, Muslims from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Pakistan and Indonesia consistently characterized Americans as greedy, violent, rude and immoral. Few, on the other hand, labeled Americans as honest.
Most of the Muslim world overwhelmingly opposes the U.S.-led war on terrorism. That includes countries such as Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan, usually considered key partners in the fight against al-Qaeda and like-minded groups.
And there is also considerable distrust of American intentions. In 2004, majorities in Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan and Turkey said the U.S.-led war on terrorism was not a sincere effort. Respondents in these countries identified a litany of ulterior motives: controlling Middle Eastern oil, protecting Israel, targeting unfriendly Muslim governments and, most ominously, dominating the world.
Many do not even trust American explanations regarding the event that led to the war on terror--the 9/11 attacks. Suspicion of American motives runs so deep that many now question al-Qaeda's responsibility for the tragedy. Astonishingly, less than half of Muslims surveyed in 2006 in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria, Britain, France, Germany and Spain believed the 9/11 attacks were carried out by Arabs. The number of Turks believing Arabs were responsible actually dropped to 16% in 2006, down from 46% in 2002 when the Gallup Organization asked about this issue. At least half of Muslims surveyed in nations such as Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan and Turkey said that most or many Americans, as well as many or most Europeans, are hostile toward Muslims.
And this "most Pakistanis (52%) favor Iran acquiring nuclear weapons."

No leader of Pakistan has anything to do with this.
If Obama was being truthful then he is tragically naive, tragically misinformed, and will lead us into a greater tragedy in a nation of 170 million muslims, most of whom dislike us for very basic reasons of culture and more importantly, religious imperative.

What a farce ! I wonder if Frank sees the irony at all as he blames republicans for deregulation being the cause, as well

Rep. Barney Frank said Monday that Republican criticism of Democrats over the nation's housispit-take.jpgng crisis is a veiled attack on the poor that's racially motivated.

The Massachusetts Democrat, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said the GOP is appealing to its base by blaming the country's mortgage foreclosure problem on efforts to expand affordable housing through the Community Reinvestment Act.

He said that blame is misplaced, because those loans are issued by regulated institutions, while far more foreclosures were triggered by high-cost loans made by unregulated entities.

"They get to take things out on poor people," Frank said at a mortgage foreclosure symposium in Boston. "Let's be honest: The fact that some of the poor people are black doesn't hurt them either, from their standpoint. This is an effort, I believe, to appeal to a kind of anger in people."

Frank also dismissed charges the Democrats failed on their own or blocked Republican efforts to rein in the mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The federal government recently took control of both entities.

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio called Frank's remarks "a lame, desperate attempt to divert Americans' attention away from the Democratic party's obstruction of reforms that would have reined in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and

Thumbnail image for joe-horses_ass03_copy.jpg

helped our nation avoid this economic crisis."

"Congressman Frank should retract his ridiculous statements and start taking responsibility for the role he and other top Democrats played in putting Main Street Americans in this mess," Boehner said.

Frank said Republicans controlled Congress for 12 years and passed no regulation, while Democrats passed a Bush administration Fannie and Freddie regulation package since gaining control of the House and Senate in January 1997.

"If I could have stopped a Republican bill during the Bush years, I would have started with the war in Iraq. Then I would have gone to the Patriot Act. Then I would have gone on to the hundreds of millions in tax cuts," said Frank, to applause from the audience.

The longtime congressman is being challenged this fall by both Republican and independent candidates. He has been criticized in his liberal district for being one of the leaders of congressional efforts last week to win approval of a $700 billion Wall Street bailout plan.

MAP IT OUT

IN 1863 NYC was convulsed by rioting over the effort to free the slaves which became so dangerous that a General recently returned from Gettysburg was tasked to take charge of federal troops and the troops then fired into crowds in an organized fashion for several days as they 'retook' parts of Manhattan

The New Yorker Magazine endorses Barack Obama:
Never in living memory has an election been more critical than the one fast approaching--that's the quadrennial cliché, as expected as the balloons and the bombast. And yet when has it ever felt so urgently true? When have so many Americans had so clear a sense that a Presidency has--at the levels of competence, vision, and integrity--undermined the country and its ideals?
Okay, but you HAVE TO READ THE DELUSION TO BELIEVE IT. Especially over the root of the financial crisis. They have bought the democratic POISON about deregulation causing this, as opposed to federal insistence (if you buy that mortgages are at the heart of all this) that untenable mortgages be given as a social engineering necessity - and then under equality under the law, had those same weakened standards compulsory for all across the board.

KOOL AID

These are the heart and soul of the people who are the skeptical, intelligent, elitists?
Cue C3PO

Congress was front and center in the national news last week and the American people resi_pelosi.jpgwere far from impressed. If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 59% of voters would like to throw them all out and start over again. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 17% would vote to keep the current legislators in office.

I think that is unrealistically high

Today, just 23% have even a little confidence in the ability of Congress to deal with the nation's economic problems and only 24% believe most Members of Congress understand legislation before they vote on it.

Probably because they DON'T READ IT. Anyone remember how many members of Congress read the Iraq 2003 National Intelligence Estimate before voting on it? SEVEN. Any questions?

Last week, the House of Representatives initially rejected a financial bailout bill proposed by the Bush Administration. Later, after the Senate added a number of items that some call "pork" and others call "sweeteners," the measure eventually passed. While the bill survived Washington, it did so at a time when just 30% of voters favored it and 45% were opposed.

Only half (49%) believe that the current Congress is better than individuals selected at random from the phone book. Thirty-three percent (33%) believe a randomly selected group of Americans could do a better job and 19% are not sure (see crosstabs).

A separate survey found that just 11% of voters say Congress is doing a good or an excellent job. (see crosstabs and recent trends).

Right into the harbor with the tea. Soon it will be Halloween and I have my indian outfit ready. Anyone else game?

These guys really want to pound on Bush?

Nancy, still want to go partisan and establish blame?

Finally someone is ready to grapple with the most serious issue of Barack Obama's policy initatives - Barack Obama.

A good friend who happens to be a close relative, let us call him Lysander going forward, and another dem refugee, though I would characterize him as a more principled center-left (I) than I am - decries taking on the person of the nominee as going negative to avoid dealing with the issues.

I don't mind because American elections are a war-revolution-coup-riot substitute, and also more to the point I need continuous entertainment.

In this case however Mr. Obama has a history of events and mentors, associates and friends which taken together provide the outline of the man, and therefore the character with which he FORMS the policy initiatives he hopes to enact, and forms the way he will deal with other nations, both allies and those inimical to our way of life.

I have held forth before as to the factual events which compels me to judge, for example, that the man running for president as a democrat has a problem with, at the least, Americans who happen to be Jewish. Forget Israel, we don't even get that far.

But it's not just that, it's that the outline continues past all that to the fact that those same people, and more have a rather jaundiced view of our society, and do so as elite hypocrites.

We all know what Wright said.
We all know Michelle's disdain for Americans, certainly up until the last year.
We all know the pap about neighborliness and patriotism emanating from the democratic twosome of 'economic justice' and then with a perfect Alice 'looking glass' irony we see that on $370k of adjusted gross income, Mr. Joe Biden was charitable in a neighborly fashion to the tune of less than $1000 less by a factor or 4-5 than his opponent, and by a factor of ~10 by earnings.
But let's stick to Obama and the outline of who he is.... such as his denial of a relationship with Ayers, a self admitted terrorist whose dissatisfaction rests with his lack of success at same. Obama attempts to cover up records of this relationship and lie via the Annanberg Challenge, and his calls to the U of Chicago to close the records to the press. This then goes on to attempts to criminalize criticism of him, and to shout down and silence the critics on radio, ALL OF WHOM APPEAR TO BE WELL PUBLISHED SCHOLARS as smear merchants. Now the National Review is no left of center publication, but smear merchants?
And so on.....

And now the critic he faces is Sarah Palin.
She has said Barack Obama has in effect disqualified himself as a president by some of his statements about the war. I imagine she sees him as taking the easy way out rather than see the meaning in victory against those who want to kill us (i.e. it doesn't matter WHERE AQ is), and finds him well past incredibly naive in dreaming that if we get Bin Laden and kill some associates (the central front in the war is Afghanistan theory), this will cause Al Qaeda in the Maghreb (AQIM), for instance, to suddenly conclude Sayd Qutb, Hassan Al Banna and Maududi were wrong ET CETERA globally. The sad list of jihadi organizations, all of whom operate from the same core idea, is simply too long to repeat here AGAIN.
She has said he is a pal of terrorists, and the critics Obama has tried to silence as smear merchants agree.
She has now said " "This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America." Well, 20 years of Jeremiah Wright and the haranguing of the scolding Meeechelle are probably enough to wear down most, but I think his proclivities did lie in that direction anyway.

You see, we can excuse each of these listed deficiencies if there was but one.
It would be the dalliance of youthful stupidity (Ayers)
It would be the misled young man seeking something greater than himself (Wright)
It would be the misguided judgment of one truly interested in an America first policy (Zbig)
It owuld be the bad judgment of looking upon HAMAS as if they were just another 'side' (Malley)
It would be the naivety of wanting to believe others are just like us (Iran)

The problem is that when taken together the picture IS of someone not qualified, and it has nothing to do with experience or lack of same.

I only HOPE, Mrs. Palin next asks Mr. Obama about why his foreign policy appointments seem to be so bigoted towards Jews (the now missing in action Dennis Ross, excepted).

The sad fact is that critical progressive Americans don't like the USA. They believe that the private property from which we derive our freedoms, is the bite of the apple which made us flawed and evil at birth. They believe the social and economic justice they promise is so self evidently wonderful that they cannot be bigoted, cannot cause wrong, and that anyone who opposes their Rx's must be ipso facto, BAD and therefore some kind of extremist to be contemptuously dismissed AT BEST. These people want the USA to be someplace else. Some other thing. Barack Obama is one of these people, and Sarah Palin sees it. No wonder they react to her as if she is a skunk at a birthday party, at theirs, she is.

Mrs. Epaminondas had it halfway thru.
"She can drop the soccer mom stuff, she is just like us, and we all know it"
I kept looking for the esoteric knockout on historic fact like the 2001 attempted bribe of Iran by Biden, or any of his numerous inventions, but none came, and apparently it doesn't matter

When Sarah Palin talks about knowing what it's like to have a  problem paying for health insurance the American people see the bankrupted men's clothing salesmen who found a living in public service, and tapped HIS inner outrage investigating greedy war profits.

When Joe Biden came back feelingly about personal tragedy, America went 'yah, yah, you've been a senator for 30+ years'.

When Sarah Palin looked straight into the camera and said she is not in favor of same sex union calling itself marriage unflinchingly, and willing to take the consequences, and then CAME BACK TO IT IN PLAINER LANGUAGE TO BE SURE EVERYONE GOT IT, it made Joe Biden's response (which actually came close to attempting to say the same thing) which tried to slip and slide around what he wanted to say and mean - the icon for Washington Insider speak

When Sarah Palin talked about Obama hoisting the white flag, Biden SURRENDERED the topic.

Never mind that Biden kept hammering on 'we will end this war' without regard to what ending it by winning it might mean to us, exposing the maked appeal.

By the time Biden went on and on about McCain voting against the troops, Palin's zinging 'you can go on and on' response made his recitation sound ridiculous.

She won on appearance, emotion, connection and performance.

He did creditably. He has a lot of practice, but not like this.

The win is not against your opponent it's in the hearts of the people.

Whatever the people dislike, it's not people just like them.

Fank Capra produced that debate, and cast it.

The American people know it.

The American elites hate it, because they have an emotional need to be accepted by those same people as superior, and therefore listened to.

Minority in a new nation

We believe in the intent of 1776, and the corrections instituted in 1789.
We don't believe we were evil from the start.
We believe private property is the root of every freedom we have.
We celebrate invention and entrepreneurship, and don't think society has any rights to that invention, except those we GIVE IT TEMPORARILY
We actually believe all humans want freedom. ALL.
We don't want to see our countrymen suffer, but believe that real charity is opportunity, not largess. We recognize, however, that pure charity is going to be necessary.
We believe that those who wish to join us in such beliefs according to our rules, and become what we are while preserving as much of what they are as they can, are welcome.
We believe socety and culture change all the time, and are prepared to deal with and embraces those changes as long as the rules of 1789 are adhered to - STRICTLY
We believe that color and religion have absolutely nothing to do with any of the above
We are a minority now. Face it.

Another society is apparently in ascendance.

That society apparently believes in enforced "neighborliness" as being a definition of "patriotic" (and no, I don't meet that society's criterion for being "rich", altho I disagree with that criterion)
That society believes a vote gives them a right to the fruit of my brain, in whatever proportion they can get a vote for
That society seems to accept that it is okay to just go out and meet on equal terms with religious fanatics who believe genocide is the means god uses to express his will, and that what they think IS his will trumps any human desire for 'freedom'
That society believes that we are bad enough that it's okay that the 'chickens are coming home to roost'
That society BELIEVES the 'chickens ARE coming home to roost'
That society thinks it takes a village, and that it HAD BETTER
That society thinks central ideas about education and what is right and correct and good are mandatory, not just worth thinking about
That society believes it is more important to preserve other older social bonds than the ones of 1789, if a choice must be made
That society believes borders are racism
That society, when it sees other societies dislike it, wonders what is wrong with itself, rather than what is possibly wrong with other societies.
That society reacts to fear by changing itself without questioning why.
That society is one of feeling and not thought

I really don't know how to assign labels like liberal and conservative, but I know when something very different from the intent of the Federalist papers raises it's head.

Some people think that such difference is good.
Some people think that such difference is not as GOOD a set of ideas as those ideas.
Some people think that those who imagine that such difference is NOT as good a set of ideas represent evil, uncaring, and greed
As we now observe the polls in battleground states, we can see those people who represent the new society are apparently enough to form a new majority

There is a lot of work to do

Election '08: Democrats want to use profits from the bailout as a slush fund for liberal activist groups, even those involved in vote fraud to help elect Barack Obama.

obamanoxious.jpg

Prior financial bailouts, or "rescues," such as those involving savings and loan failures, and Chrysler, have over time actually made money for the government. It may be the case here as well, as assets bought by the government at bargain prices return to marketable values and are auctioned off.

One of the sticking points in resolving the crisis was a poison pill in the Dodd/Paulson compromise that would move 20% of profits from the bailout into the Housing Trust Fund, a slush fund for political action groups such as ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and the National Council of La Raza.

Sen. Lindsey Graham told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News that Democrats had other priorities than just solving this crisis: "And this deal that's on the table now is not a very good deal. Twenty percent of the money that should go to retire debt that will be created to solve this problem winds up in a housing organization called ACORN that is an absolute ill-run enterprise, and I can't believe we would take money away from debt retirement to put it in a housing program that doesn't work."

resi_pelosi.jpg

Groups such as ACORN and La Raza lobby to secure government-funded services for their members and seek to move them to the voting booth. The housing bill President Bush signed in July contained a similar funding mechanism for the HTF -- a tax on mortgages backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The tax was designed to channel upwards of $600 million annually in grants for developing and restoring housing, mostly as low-income rentals, available to ACORN and other groups. ACORN gets 40% of its revenues from the American taxpayers and not all of it finds its way into housing.

A new whistle-blower report from the Consumer Rights League claims that ACORN routinely commingles funds from its housing arm into political projects such as voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives. Money is fungible. Any taxpayer money that ACORN gets for housing makes it easier for the group to put its other funds into voter drives.

"These are taxpayer funds, in an indirect method, being used to subsidize political activism," says Rep. Jeb Hensarling, a Texas Republican and chairman of the conservative House Republican Study Committee. "I'm sure they're not going out and registering any Republicans."

Obama cut his community organizer teeth with ACORN. As a young lawyer he represented the group in a suit against the state of Illinois, which was concerned that postcard registration and a new motor voter law might invite fraud. ACORN later invited Obama to train its staff in leadership seminars.

ACORN has a political arm that endorsed Barack Obama for president in February and has stepped up its registration efforts to help elect a future benefactor. The Obama campaign admits to failing to report $800,000 in campaign payments to ACORN. They were disguised as payments to a front group called "Citizen Services Inc." for "advance work."

Consumer Rights League official Jim Terry says: "ACORN has a long and sordid history of employing convoluted Enron-style accounting to illegally use taxpayer funds for their own political gain. Now it looks like ACORN is using the same type of convoluted accounting scheme for Obama's political gain."

A major part of ACORN's sordid history is vote fraud. ACORN has been implicated in voter fraud and bogus registration schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states. Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in Washington state history, involving nearly 2,000 bogus voter forms. In Ohio in 2004, ACORN submitted forms for the likes of Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and someone named Jive Turkey.

ACORN uses taxpayer money to elect people like Barack Obama who will work to get them more taxpayer money. Democrats are willing to rip off taxpayers in a national crisis to make it happen.

Painted on something larger than two sheets of plywood...

NO BAILOUT !
DON'T PASS A BAILOUT
TO HELP THIEVES !

I'd say about 70% of the cars passing honked or flashed their lights.

Overheard in the register line at the health food store in a town of 26,000 about two hours before the debate..."But how much does the FDIC have put aside to pay us off if too many banks close? I can't wait a week for my money from the ATM. I have to take some money out. Just in case"
(Actually the FDIC said only yesterday they are currently estimating that as of Friday the are underfunded by about $150 billion, I kept my mouth shut. The largest local bank chain is TD Banknorth, a Canadian bank which has been swallowing up more local chains.)
Response - "What happens if they just turn on the printing presses? Will it cost $10 for a loaf of healthy bread in six months?" (Bread at the health food store is already at $4-5 avg for local artisan breads)

I have a feeling people are pretty pissed off, and worried enough in their own personal existence to do things which, on a macro scale can jump this game to the next level.

All this against the back ground of the revolt of the house republicans who just don't want much to do with this mess, and apparently never did. Since the democrats hold a clear majority in the house, one as to ask why Ms Pelosi simply didn't PASS THIS THING? Maybe it stinks so badly she wants the republicans tainted? As a concerned citizen, wouldn't you like ot know what the HELL THEY ARE NEGOTIATING?

Especially since the huge layout to ACORN story has turned out to be true as an earmark in this bill? Link leads to Malkin, and National Review also confirms, altho they say they THINK they have been told it's going to be dropped (DUH, IT HAD BETTER BE OR I WILL PULL THE LEVER FOR WHOEVER IS NOT AN INCUMBENT IN CONGRESS)

Especially since Harry Reid tried to add a proviso to BAN GETTING OIL SHALE IN THE WEST

$25 billion dollar loan to the auto industry? For what? Ignoring fuel cells?

No one has been more aware that the credit markets are totally bereft of confidence and need some kind of bill passed to demonstrate, if nothing else, that the USA can commit an act, but this chain of stupidities show just how far gone congress really is, and just how much attention must be paid IN REAL TIME.

Just what is ithey are going to agree to?

And whose eye would you rather see monitoring that mess next January?

How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis: Kevin Hassett

Commentary by Kevin Hassett

Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The financial crisis of the past year has provided a number of surprising twists and turns, and from Bear Stearns Cos. to American International Group Inc., ambiguity has been a big part of the story.

Why did Bear Stearns fail, and how does that relate to AIG? It all seems so complex.

But really, it isn't. Enough cards on this table have been turned over that the story is now clear.

The economic history books will describe this episode in simple and understandable terms: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac exploded, and many bystanders were injured in the blast, some fatally.

fannie_mae_hq.la.jpg

Fannie and Freddie did this by becoming a key enabler of the mortgage crisis. They fueled Wall Street's efforts to securitize subprime loans by becoming the primary customer of all AAA-rated subprime-mortgage pools. In addition, they held an enormous portfolio of mortgages themselves.

In the times that Fannie and Freddie couldn't make the market, they became the market. Over the years, it added up to an enormous obligation. As of last June, Fannie alone owned or guaranteed more than $388 billion in high-risk mortgage investments. Their large presence created an environment within which even mortgage-backed securities assembled by others could find a ready home.

The problem was that the trillions of dollars in play were only low-risk investments if real estate prices continued to rise. Once they began to fall, the entire house of cards came down with them.

Turning Point

Take away Fannie and Freddie, or regulate them more wisely, and it's hard to imagine how these highly liquid markets would ever have emerged. This whole mess would never have happened.

It is easy to identify the historical turning point that marked the beginning of the end.

Back in 2005, Fannie and Freddie were, after years of dominating Washington, on the ropes. They were enmeshed in accounting scandals that led to turnover at the top. At one telling moment in late 2004, captured in an article by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Peter Wallison, the Securities and Exchange Comiission's chief accountant told disgraced Fannie Mae chief Franklin Raines that Fannie's position on the relevant accounting issue was not even ``on the page'' of allowable interpretations.

Then legislative momentum emerged for an attempt to create a ``world-class regulator'' that would oversee the pair more like banks, imposing strict requirements on their ability to take excessive risks. Politicians who previously had associated themselves proudly with the two accounting miscreants were less eager to be associated with them. The time was ripe.

Greenspan's Warning

The clear gravity of the situation pushed the legislation forward. Some might say the current mess couldn't be foreseen, yet in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,'' he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.''

What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets.

Different World

If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.

But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then. Wallison wrote at the time: ``It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit. The Democrats and the few Republicans who oppose portfolio limitations could not possibly do so if their constituents understood what they were doing.''

Mounds of Materials

Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable. Many who opposed the bill doubtlessly did so for honorable reasons. Fannie and Freddie provided mounds of materials defending their practices. Perhaps some found their propaganda convincing.

But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.

Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.

Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.

There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.

Oh, and there is one little footnote to the story that's worth keeping in mind while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Senator John McCain was one of the three cosponsors of S.190, the bill that would have averted this mess.

(Kevin Hassett, director of economic-policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, is a Bloomberg News columnist. He is an adviser to Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona in the 2008 presidential election. The opinions expressed are his own.)

To contact the writer of this column: Kevin Hassett at khassett@aei.org

When John McCain suspended campaigning to deal with what Warren Buffett called an economic Pearl Harbor, and what Jack Welch warned could turn into a great depression (neither of whom had anything at stake) the democrats and Mr. Obama could have seized upon the fact his withdrawal of advertisements AND his lack of rebuttal of their campaigning smears as evidence that even if if WAS a stunt (one possible view), Mr. McCain was serious about a suspended campaign.

Instead we have Harry Reid, who on Tuesday was telling us we should have McCain in Washington, saying what he did yesterday as the non existent - but teased into quasi reality for the press and the DOW deal to prevent utter disaster in the world credit markets - deal, broke down in precisely the acrimony partisan differences can make when it was time to come to Jesus and count heads.

If there was the workings of deal in principle (as we had been told throughout the day)  that kind of meeting should have been able to be KUMBAYA for money managers everywhere. Instead it was the opposite reports, naggingly heard throughout the day which turned out to be right. If it were me, I'd never be able to work with Reid again.

After his glee over the Patriot Act, his famous 'this war is lost', and now this staggeringly stupid and venal performance, Harry Reid takes his place as perhaps the worst Senate Majority Leader in American history. Mr. Reid is unquestionably someone who would rather see America lose a war in order to gain partisan political advantage.

Reid said that lawmakers are 'doing fine' in their ongoing negotiations over the proposed $700 billion bail out package and didn't need an injection of presidential politics into them.
The first part was clearly delusion.
Sadly.

Neither I, nor I would assume ANYONE who thinks business and consumers should have any responsibility in the world, is happy with this bailout deal. The question is how fast can we put in place something which prevents disaster while looking out for the people, and ensuring the irresponsible are not rewarded, and maintains our free market philosophies.

There were according to reports only FOUR republicans in the senate ready to vote for this, and a substantial number of congressmen, we now see, who not only would NOT vote for this on principle (since it is absolute socialism in both principle and reality) but also were ready to visibly oppose this. LOUDLY and in the public eye. Apparently we need a lot of republicans on board, else Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would simply jam this through. Perfect for the credit markets to wake up and dump anything not as sure as gold and oil. The fact that some to many republicans are required should tell us how fractious the current idea REALLY IS.

Despite the fact that they require republicans on board,  the democrats in national leadership have perfectly projected their own way of thinking and doing onto the republicans and McCain and have reacted to that inner vision of how others will act in crisis.

Even I am shocked by the level of partisan vitriol, and the lack of same from the other side.

This will doom any settlement unless SOMEONE(S) are ready to be different. More if this disintegrates prepare yourselves for the worst 'blame the other guys' episode of American history. Take a look at Mr. Obama just after this meeting who twice on TV in an hour said he wanted to avoid pointing fingers and placing blame, he just wanted to get to a solution ....and then blamed the crisis on lack of oversight by the present admin and greed (property seeking rich men and women with no decency).

So, while McCain won't respond SINCE HE SUSPENDED ALL PARTISAN RESPONSE including commercials, press emails, and web reactions, here....

NY TIMES SEPT 11, 2003
''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''
Of course Mr. Frank was the ranking democrat on, and is now the chairman of precisely that committee whose responsibility was oversight. We can see the nascence of his concern, as was Mr. Clinton's during  HIS administration. These are laudable goals. But capital is a force of nature every bit as much as weather, and we may be closer to controlling the latter than the former. There is plenty of fault and party has little to do with it.

Prepare yourselves for a rough day in world markets (DOW futures are now bid down 105 at 7:40 AM  East Coast, and as the feds seized WaMu), and their possible implosion Monday. It is hard for me to foresee a whole conclusion as Paulson and Bernanke say they need, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to imagine what the public will end up making of all this, except the raging desire to get rid of everyone, like a team that has finished last for 15 years, and tar and feather them as they race to the harbor's edge to dump these 535 +  executive morons into rising tide with the crates of British Tea.

Unfortunately the closest we can come to that without DOING IT, will be to elect a man who wants to sit and talk with leaders who promise genocide as a mission from god, end missile defense, and doesn't have the instinct or visceral reaction to invasion of a friendly democracy compulsory in the man who takes the oath.Worst of all, Mr. Obama probably feels about the USA as it is, something up the scale as do Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and others who think property is the root of evil.

This nation is in trouble.
Warren Buffet whose Berkshire Hathaway Corp yesterday invested the equivalent of more than 2 modern Aircraft Carriers to battle what he termed an "economic Pearl Harbor" said "I am betting on the Congress doing the right thing for the American public and passing this bill".
2cvs.jpgBuffett is buying a stake in New York-based Goldman after three of the investment bank's biggest competitors collapsed or were forced into emergency sales.

"I think the Treasury will pay back the $700 billion and make a considerable amount of money,'' Buffett said, adding that if he had $700 billion on the government's terms to buy distressed assets, he would. "Unfortunately, I'm tapped out.''

Hey Joe BIden, I think THAT'S PATRIOTIC.

Barack, boychickle, with each and every move, while you are benefiting from the public's long memory of FDR's miracle beginning in 1932, you look less like a man and more like a, no... I can't say that can I. Someone would accuse me of something.

Now that you've made you bed, I hope to see you in Mississippi tmw night next to an empty chair. It is inconceivable that Harry Reid, who the day before yesterday WANTED to see the nominees back to help, now is playing PARTISAN with this while only 4 republican senators are on board, and telling McCain who might be the only man who can convince these guys to get on the train, to stay away. It is also inconceivable that you can't abrogate that stupidity and partisanship, and break through at a critical moment into something larger than democrat and republican, and election victory carrots.

I don't mind the ads, this is an election.

I don't mind the sneering and mocking from morons like Letterman, who when presented with

obamanoxious.jpg

objective reality complained of made-up facts, I EXPECT the holier than thou bias in the media and the elitist down their nose attitude about rubes from the woods, but when the nation is in trouble, I EXPECT you to be a man, especially when it would have been at no cost to you or your campaign.

It was an easy putt, Barack. Now it's a partisan battle on this as well.

Of course to the Zinnite Chomsky Ayers Wright believing critical progressives, since you are battling real evil, it is all called for, right?

Maybe you have even calculated correctly how the American public will perceive this, I really don't know, but...............

SHAME ON YOU

MCCAIN SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN TO FOCUS ON ECONOMY; WANTS DEBATE DELAY
Wed Sept 24 2008 14:58:02 ET

MCCAIN: America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.

Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns. This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward.I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.

It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration' proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.
The election is just a battle, but some men focus on the war.
Maybe this is a guy who will simply keep upping the ante until the answer is found.
I hope so.

UPDATE:

McCain taking ads down

Aiming to prove how serious he is about addressing the financial crisis, John McCain has instructed his staff to take all his campaign commercials off the air, a spokesman tells Politico.

"As John McCain said, now is the time to put partisanship aside and come together to do the work that the American people expect," said Tucker Bounds.

McCain aides are now in the process of contacting TV station across the country to get their ads taken down, according to Bounds.

Asked how long they would go dark, Bounds only said: "We're taking our guidance from Sen. McCain on that."

One of the nation's largest car dealerships has closed sales operations, possibly forever.

Bill Heard Enterprises Inc., which operates the Bill Heard Chevrolet dealership in Plant City, closed its sales operation there this week, said Paul Baker, executive manager of the dealership.

"It's a shame," Baker said, adding that he thought the era of gigantic dealerships is over. The dealership traces its roots to 1919, just 11 years after Henry Ford first produced the Model T automobile.

Baker declined to elaborate on reasons for the closing, other than to cite financial pressures. He said he doubted the operation would operate under new ownership. "Nobody has the guts to have a big dealership anymore," he said.

The dealership will "take care of any customer's car and live up to any obligations we have as far as sales," he said, "but we closed the sales operation."

Based in Columbus, Ga., Bill Heard Enterprises Inc. operates 13 dealerships nationwide. They all will close, Baker said.

Some great rope line video from Joe Biden's recent Ohio swing, where he was asked by an anti-pollution campaigner about clean coal -- a controversial approach in Democratic circles for which Obama has voiced support, particularly during the Kentucky primary.

Biden's apparent answer: He supports clean coal for China, but not for the United States.

"No coal plants here in America," he said. "Build them, if they're going to build them, over there. Make them clean."

"We're not supporting clean coal," he said of himself and Obama. They do, on paper, support clean coal.

Antiprogress progressives?

As always.

Why are they so thick?

When I first heard that Sarah Palin was invited to the STOP IRAN rally, I thought 'what a great idea to have both Hillary and Sarah together for a few minutes without whacking away at each other'. Instead the OPPORTUNITY to act purely as Americans in America's interest against what can't be anything other than evil dissolved instantly into the mire and butcher's gore of partisan hideousness. Hillary made the 2nd largest mistake of her career, and I think people will remember. There is NO REASON the organizers could not have made clear this was not a poltical event and had both women there to make the point - IN UNITY, as Americans.

We are in real trouble.

Chart from Drudge:
stocks 9_22_08.jpg
So how many days will the republicans and democrats in Congress dither as if they are 535 Nero's?

Many predictions were made that if the govt did nothing at all the natural market corrections would drop the DOW (now without AIG) to ~8300.

I heard one moron claim this bailout was the 'largest single executive power grab in history'. Are you kidding me? Does anyone imagine an outgoing George Bush, worried he will be remembered in all history for a 2nd great depression which guts our ability to win the war against islamofascists is involved in some nefarious power grab? I can believe incompetent, but PLEASE. This is iconic of congress today. For a week use your brains up there, not your hindbrains.

We are already at the point where taking care of this problem, will if either candidate is truthful, acknowledge that whatever plans they had, they will now have as their compulsory priority managing this monster to a profitable conclusion for us all. There is simply NO ALTERNATIVE

Health Care? Where is that money coming from? That' a joke. Want more F-22's to safeguard the nation? How are you going to provide the additional funds? More brigades to help an overstretched army? Who balances the checkbook?

It now appears we will get the worst of both worlds. Congress, mired in squalid squabbling over who to execute partisan blame upon, will take all week or longer and the market will be just above that level (8300) or worse, and then suddenly get religion and create the more usual idiotic patchwork of common sense and committee stupidities, too late and without resolution.

Ladies and gentlemen in the Capitol bldg, GET IT TOGETHER.

Anyone else wonder about a 3rd and 4th party?

Think a single one of the congressmen or senators depend on their bi-weekly paycheck for heating oil, electricity, food and the car payment?

We are being ill served across the board, executive and legislative, democrat and republican.

In my mind's eye, I keep seeing crates of tea in the harbor. That's how I am beginning to see all this.

When banks can no longer lend, when sovereign funds have all dumped their T-bills, when money market runs create panic and disorder in the streets, and near the malls, and in the suburbs, when we can't imagine where to send the mortgage checks and oil is at $250/barrel because capital seeks security, when supermarkets raise their prices every day or worse to keep up with the changes as commodities rocket upwards, and heating oil dealers go broke because they extended credit to customers who lost their jobs because the marketing plan is in the garbage and the entire dept was let go, when there is no confidence in America to solve it's own problems or stabilize the world, what will any of them in DC have to say then, ?

It was the other guy's fault?

So here it is, fund what needs to be funded, extend time to mortgagees, lock the CEO and other "C" pay to a multiplier of MEAN PAY for a given corporation for a fixed time, and eliminate TOTALLY retirement "plans" which amount to setting up a family and all their descendants unto all generations.

Don't tie the bill to ANYTHING ELSE.
UGH !!!

Is the American world about to go under because of DEMOCRATS ON THE FAR LEFT WHO LEAD THE PARTY IN CONGRESS ARE PLAYING PARTISAN HARDBALL AT THE PENULTIMATE MOMENT?

Tensions mount over bail-out

reid&pelosi_bailout.jpg

By Krishna Guha, Harvey Morris, Andrew Ward and Daniel Dombey in Washington and George Parker in Manchester

Published: September 21 2008 19:13 | Last updated: September 22 2008 03:47

A high stakes game of political poker was under way in Washington on Sunday as Congress prepared to vote this week on a plan to create a $700bn fund to buy toxic assets from banks and thereby ease the credit squeeze.

Democratic legislators pressed for a housing component to be added to the bill and demanded assurances that President George W. Bush would not veto a subsequent second stimulus bill.

The Bush administration was trying to hold out for a "clean" bill that dealt only with the financial rescue, while Republicans in Congress said they would fight a hasty compromise that included many add-ons.

The danger here is not that this might slow things down, but that perception and fear which governs markets will place itself on the side of safety and the credit market of the USA, and then the world will seek the safety of the smallest loss, and a selling panic will set in, which will leave Main Street in the position of Australia, On the Beach

If you have money market accounts, what would stop you from getting your cash tomorrow morning if you conclude the democratic majority is going to make this a partisan issue with winning the election more important than saving the economy?

That 'thing' is the american people's perception of who has something to gain from the huge risk entailed by the gigantor buyout and bailout.

If the american people perceive that at the solution point when these bad assets are eventually sold off (see the finale of the Resolution Trust Company) the stockholders and decision makers that brought us all to this point are made whole, Obama will win big.

That greed is enraging a lot of poeple

If the people perceive that the democratic actions IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS protect the citizens and the admin is working to protect the 'large' (Henry Paulson is an ex CEO of Goldman Sachs) and the 'system', then Obama will win.

If any democratic action at this point is perceived to be politics BECAUSE OF THE ELECTION, they are dead.

If the people perceive that McCain's reformist vision ensures the citizens will be the gainers by footing the risk in this bailout McCain will win.

On balance McCain's task is much harder, and even though much of the blame here should fall on the oversight of the Clinton Admin, on Barney Frank, and other democrats, this admin and the republicans will be felt to be responsible.
rcp_compendium_09_22_08.jpg
McCain did not do a good job on this last week.

Obama did no job.

Obama gained because McCain lost and we are now precisely where we were before the convention, except for one thing. While this election looks like it's going to be over Colorado, Obama's 0.4% lead there is now >2%.

As before, in what should easily be a sweeping year for democrats, it's Obama's to lose.

Unless, of course, we are attacked

Woodie Allen:
wody and soonye1686371647.jpgUS filmmaker Woody Allen, best known for such comedy classics as "Annie Hall," says it will be no laughing matter if Barack Obama fails to win the race for the White House.

"It would be a disgrace and a humiliation if Barack Obama does not win," he told Spanish journalists at the ongoing 56th San Sebastian film festival, where his latest film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" is being screened.

"It would be a very, very terrible thing for the United States in many, many ways," he said.

Is Karl Rove sending out reporters to these people to get them to open their big fat traps?

Do these people not have a brain? Or is their wiring such that their ego require them to utter anything which arrives in their brain's verbal center regardless of any other consideration?

The past week's sick roller coaster for those whose business is profit from the grease of REAL CREATION saw confusion by both nominees.

First McCain said the fundamentals were strong. Well if no one can borrow money there are no fundamentals even though for a while, when we need things we have to pay people and our employers still pay us, but eventually the larger failure insinuates itself.

Obama made things worse by crying 'crisis' in a self fulfilling scarefest.

By the end of the week McCain wanted the SEC chief fired (he is right), and Obama insisted that people on Main Street get the same consideration as Wall Street (of course he is right, but if that can be achieved by EITHER a repub or dem, pinch me, will you? It sure sounds good on TV, though.)

Neither helped define himself. Both can add the millions made by their advisers in the pursuit of that same greed, some from the same companies, that created the incredible near disaster of this past week.

This race is still controlled by the 5% of undecideds who look as if they are changing their minds every 7-10 days or so.

Obama certainly represents change, but I contend he will change to the SAME DEMOCRATIC MANTRA-ZONE of not Bill Clinton, but to a prior busted flush of social theories developed in reaction to 1972. Just look at Europe.

John McCain for all that he is does not fit CONSERVATIVE has completely failed to establish why he fails to fit. He is probably a republican for 2 reasons. First, he more numerously (by a very few) fits republican ideas, second and more important, THE MAN in local politics when he went into office was one Barry Goldwater.

But McCain has not made the case, except to shout REFORM, why he just doesn't fit with most 'conservative' Republicans, and more importantly, explained why this same case also means virtually all the claims made against WHO HE IS by Obama are thus TOTALLY ABSURD.

Just over a month to go, and 3 debates. Plenty of time to score.

But right now both campaigns are mired in claims that the other side are bigger liars than they are.

However the major issues remain.

This economy and the life of its workers and managers is for the most part at the mercy of the price of oil. McCain retains a significant reality based advantage.

International challenges are PROLIFERATING as old ones raise their heads along with the ones which rose to prominence on 9/11. Who you gonna call? Alinsky or the fighter pilot?

Business remains fragile as long as we import mass amounts of oil, and this will remain the case for a while (assuming we move our asses on energy) ..Obama still ernestly believes tariff and protection will actually PROTECT american workers..that in itself may portent world wide disaster.

Increased taxes on business...well..has that EVER worked? Instead offer tax credits to achieve what you need. Anyone doing that? Want more taxes? Then figure a plan to allow the pie to grow, and get more taxes correlative to that achievement. Being "neighborly" and "patriotic" are simply synomnyms, in this case, for NO IDEAS and THEFT FOR LACK OF SAME.

And McCain still retains the unrecognized bona fides as agent of angst for the established way of doing things, while Obama will simply flip a switch to the socially engineered correct way

But no matter what you think, isn't it nice that Lehman Bros took with them in their death throes $300,000,000 of Mr. Chavez's Venezuelan cash on monday? One third of a billion.
ZAP.

Anyone wondering if that's why the govt let them go?

Get it...
I assume John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential partner in a fit of pique because the Republican money men refused to let him have the stuffed male shirt he really wanted......

She added nothing to the ticket that the Republicans didn't already have sewn up, the white trash vote,

the demographic
that sullies America's name
inside and outside its borders

Thumbnail image for rockwell_right_to_know.jpgyet has such a curious appeal for the right.

It's possible that Republican men, sexual inadequates that they are, really believe that women will vote for a woman just because she's a woman. They're unfamiliar with our true natures. Do they think vaginas call out to each other in the jungle night?.........
But do they not know that women have been trained to resent other women and that they only learn to suppress this by constantly berating themselves and reading columns like this one? I'm a feminist who understands that women can nurse terrible and delicate woman hatred.
Palin has a toned-down version of the porn actress look favoured by this decade's woman, the overtreated hair, puffy lips and permanently alarmed expression. Bristol has what is known in Britain as the look of the teen mum, the "pramface." Husband Todd looks like a roughneck; Track, heading off to Iraq, appears terrified. They claim to be family obsessed while being studiously terrible at parenting. What normal father would want Levi "I'm a fuckin' redneck" Johnson prodding his daughter?
Palin has it all, along with being vicious and profoundly dishonest. Just hours after her first convention speech, the Associated Press did a good fast listing of her untruths and I won't dwell on them.
The conventioneers are nothing like the rich men who run the party, and that's the mystery of the hick vote. They'd be much better served by the Democrats. I know Thomas Frank answered this in What's the Matter with Kansas?; I know that red states vote Republican on social issues to give themselves the only self-esteem available to their broken, economically abused existence.
Read this incredible witch's paranoid, elitist rant about how completely backwoods stupid and ignorant we are.

Hey, SWEETIE, ...and the horse you rode in on, eh? Maybe we'll have Cindy buy the Molson Brewery and fill it with our illegal aliens to give you something to write about, eh? Or maybe we can spare Trig the terrified hillbilly to 'prod' some relatives, eh?

If David Warren is correct about his industry's internal opinions, if this is the attitude of what passes for those who think of themselves as elite, and informed, then Canada should simply be BLOCKED and/or put on IGNORE.

Perhaps if the world economy tanks and americans stop spending they will have a far more sanguine attitude about us hicks and white trash, EH?

An ad by Democrat Obama sneered: "How can John McCain fix our economy if he doesn't understand it's broken?"

January 2006:
Sen. John McCain [R-AZ]:
"Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae's regulator reported that the company's quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were "illusions deliberately and systematically created" by the company's senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae's former chief executive officer, OFHEO's report shows that over half of Mr. Raines' compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.
The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator's examination of the company's accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.
I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation."

Voted DOWN by the democratic congress?
YES
Meanwhile...
You look at Obama's economic advisers, the guys he has counted on from day one and who have raised him a ton -- and I mean a ton -- of money: Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, both of them are waist to neck deep in the mortgage debacle."

Both Raines and Johnson have served as CEO of Fannie Mae, with Raines taking over from Johnson. Both are key political and economic advisers to Obama.

"How can Obama go out with a straight face and saw it was Republicans who made this mess, when it is his key advisers who ran the agencies that made the big mess what it is?" says a Democrat House member who supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. "It's his people who are responsible for what may well be the single largest government bailout in history. And every single one of them made millions off the collapse that are lining Obama's campaign coffers. If the McCain campaign lets this one go, they deserve to lose."
SEN. OBAMA YOU TALK A LOT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Obama's fun speech...

STALIN_WITH_KIDS_FLOWERS_correct.jpg

Obama -"The one thing that I want to insist on is that, as I travel around the country, the American people are a decent people. Now they get confused sometimes. You know, they listen to the wrong talk radio shows or watch the wrong TV networks, um, but they're, they're basically decent, they're basically sound."
And it's not even taken out of context.
Color me indecent and unsound.
I must need correction

Don't be stupid
Be a Smarty
Come on
Join Obama's Party

Now where have I heard that before?
Hey Steven Schmidt, where are you?

The Obama Tactic

One of Bill Clinton's most effective and well executed political moves was to smear his Thumbnail image for obama_orwell.jpgenemies by claiming they were smearing him, and making it stick by having every single subordinate execute the same phrases over and over 24x7 into the microphones and into the cameras for days of news cycles.

We are now seeing, from Barack Obama's campaign something very different.

They are extracting any phrase, removing it from it's surrounding and giving it new meaning which THEY wish to use for naked fear mongering.
Among others:

The 100 year war
Fundamentally sound
And now, the Rush Limbaugh race baiting quotes, used against a McCain who LOST VOTES upholding the benefits of the illegal immigrants whose legal voting connections the dmocrats want.

Obama's people are one step away from pulling out two word phrases and stringing them together (I can do it right here with some really cool sound editors) in a set of FAKE BUT ACCURATE (in their minds) attacks, and having their justification all ready to go, the way they did with their truly pathetic and comedic excuses after it came out Sen McCain physically CANNOT type due to his war service.

We have the in the tank media and others all warning that if Obama loses it's racism and there is ALREADY a race war going on all the while complaining about McCain fearmongering.

I am no blushing rose about elections. I have always believed that as our substitue for coups, revolutions, and riots, we should expect they would all degenerate to the lowest level just above backlash and outright lies.

JUST ABOVE. The phrases are accurate, but the messages concocted in the Obamanoid Ministry of Truth are complete fabrications. Cue Joseph Welch (6:15 in)

Obama's team has reached that point early.

We await McCain's response quoting Obama's accurately extracted words describing how much he holds Americans in contempt

Fair is Fair.

And by the way, how are either of these guys going to prevent all these merged banks, insurance companies, and any other damn business from getting so large, and taking such chances that the effect of their failure would be so catastrophic that we have to become SOCIALISTS to save the american and world economies? I mean stuff like this is why we are voting, right?

Is that all, you can do more, come on...I mean the govt can do even more for me, right?

Listen, if you want to buy my vote, just make it out for $25,000.

What a farce.
NO SPECIFICS, no time for a single specific despite a 2 minute buy.

He couldn't even prioritize ONE FACET at what he terms a critical time to demonstrate how it would make things better.

Did you also know he was going to 'crack down on lobbyists'? He has such a long record of doing so.

What media bias II ?

The headline title:
Sarah Palin Installed Tanning Bed at Governor's Mansion
Wow, sounds like a narcissistic lazy person spent taxpayer's money for ridiculous luxury to avoid going down the street to be a narcissistic bimbo, huh?

Except SHE paid for it in a place almost totally dark 5 months a year.
Rebroadcast by US (you remember those Obama-Palin covers, right?) from the NARCO NEWS (? ...Reporting on the Drug Wars in Latin America,.... gringoes!)

Except SHE PAID FOR IT.
USED.

Okay this is great stuff...

Tanning beds can cost up to $35,000 to install in a home - not including the cost of parts, Color Me Tan manager Erin Weise told the Narco News.

Up to? Is like $2,000 included in UP TO?

"I don't think it's normal for people to have a tanning bed in their house, " Wiese, who is based in Fairbanks said. "It's expensive."

Xlation- Palin is weird, and a spendthrift

Palin's running mate, presidential candidate John McCain battled skin cancer in 1993, and again in 2000.

Xlation- Palin is a thrill risk freak

"I coat SPF 30 on myself first thing in the morning, and wear long sleeves and a hat whenever I'm in the sun," McCain has told Newsweek.

Palin declared May 2007, "Skin Cancer Awareness Month." In the press materials it was noted, "Skin cancer is caused, overwhelmingly, by over-exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun and from tanning beds.

Xlation - Palin is a hypocrit

I can't wait to vote for the book burning, snake handling, tongue speaking, trooper firing, power abusing, bear killing, moose shooting, sled riding, narcissistic lazy, weird, thrill seeking, baby endangering, bad mothering, hypocrit ... since she is so superior to the other side.

Right now, the vast majority of the American Press is a farce, an embarassing farce.

The story they should be doing is why the democrats have become so deranged, and they have gone along.

Of course, the answer, that they are incensed that not only have a very large % of the american people have rejected their annointing as intellectual chiefs and best "FIRST CITIZENS", and that when they should have been crushing anything named republican, instead are confronted with a potentially new Reagan, who is FEMALE and PRO LIFE, and comes from the people almost direct, is simply too disturbing to the narrative they have constructed for themselves since Nov 1980.

Perhaps you have seen Obama's personally approved ad mocking McCain's inability to use the computer.

They actually belittled him during the campaign much earlier when they derided how ancient and out of touch he was, when it came out he doesn't email or use a computer.

Let us all acknowledge that he didn't try to defend this lack of savvy, or excuse it in any way.

Here now the SLEDGEHAMMER OF HUMILITY:

From the Boston Globe, March 4th, 2000:
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
He suffered this attack and didn't say a word.

Forget the presidency, what kind of man is silent in the face of this kind of unjust complaint and slam?

UPDATE:
Mr. Obama, time to think of Napoloen's dictum '...'better to be lucky than good'....OR MAYBE...
Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs, thinks McCain set them up
Free Online Poll
I have been told authoritatively that this is impossible
Perhaps those authorities might wish to reassess, and consider the strategic meaning of the shia of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood sunni salafists of HAMAS working together with little apparent problem? NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH !

HAARETZ:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Friday to keep supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas until the "collapse of Israel."
Well, I mean since Israel is on an islamic waqf, land consecrated for muslim occupation until doomsday, I guess, ole dinner jacket really has no choice, does he? But I am sure FATAH has no such ideas, right Condi?

The Iranian news agency Khabar quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran views the support of the Palestinian people as part of its religious and national duty and that Iran will stand behind the Palestinian nation "until the big victory feast which is the collapse of the Zionist regime."
Say how are those P-2 centrifuges coming along. You wouldn't be thinking about sliding a crude fission contraption to HAMAS or anything, would you? I mean, you wouldn't USE them like that, would you?

Ahem....Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin on Thursday said the United States shouldn't "second guess" steps taken by Israel to secure itself, not only that, SHE DIDN'T BLINK !! OMG!! The horror ! Even worse, she expects the USA to live up to NATO obligations ! OMG !!

In a phone conversation between the two leaders (HAMAS AND IRAN), the Iranian president said that the continued Hamas resistance against Israel and the group's achievements would always be "a source of pride for all Muslims."
Achievements? You mean like this?

pakr_hotel.jpg

Yes, this is a cultural achievement worth pride, the purposeful murder of old people praying as a strategic and tactical goal of a "state's" effort. Yes, these old jews are worth knocking out a squadron of F-15's, right? Of course we have to remember that the past PM, Rafsanjani and many of his contemporaties remain wanted for murder in Argentina.

Iran does not acknowledge the sovereignty of Israel and vowed to support Hamas until what Ahmadinejad calls "deliverance from Zionists (Israel)."

Haniyeh, the leader of the Islamist Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, was elected Palestinian prime minister in 2006, but was dismissed in June 2007 by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, after Hamas violently seized control over the Gaza Strip from Abbas' Palestinian Authority.

Taken from a commenter at American Thinker:

A Jewish person voting for Obama is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

International Herald Tribune (NYT/WaPo) on Gibson's interview:
Gibson, who sat back in his chair and wriggled his foot impatiently, had the skeptical, annoyed tone of a university president who agrees to interview the daughter of a trustee, but doesn't believe she merits admission.

When he asked her, slowly and solemnly to "look the country in the eye" and say whether she truly felt qualified to be vice president and possibly commander in chief, Gibson seemed to expect Palin to express at least a moment of humility and self-doubt.
Charlie, did you, in a one on one, national interview ask the ONE this same kind of question when he began his run (has he ever been to Canada or Mexico)?
How about Bill Clinton, an insular governor, from what some would think a cracker state, whose only foreign experience was a scholarship? Did you ask him?
Or Mr. Bush, gov of a wild west state?
Or J Carter, the peanut farmer?
But for a SARAH PALIN it's valid?

Are you getting it?

Palin said she had no doubts whatsoever when asked to be Senator John McCain's running mate. ("I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink. You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.") Gibson suggested that her brash, unwavering confidence sounded like "hubris."
Anyone self confident enough, and seeking that kind of office and power HAD BETTER sound like that Mr. Gibson.

That's a bit past skepticism.

All of these people miss the obvious answer that readiness for the presidency is a function of character. John Kennedy, LBJ and Richard Nixon, the last men to be senators who became presidents have mixed records to say the least. Kennedy's fiasco in Vienna with Khrushchev, and Nixon's crimes indicate very little to us how 'foreign' experience aids in the office.LBJ...OY

Nixon turned out to be an extremely successfully president as a foreign policy leader, but his character destroyed any good works. John Kennedy's record included Vienna, the Cuban Missile Crisis and starting the Vietnam catastrophe which has created the modern democratic party.

I have a feeling that Mrs. Palin's experience out maneuvering, and out gutting with confidence the multinationals of ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and BP are a hint of her inner self.

I confess, it was pretty riveting when John McCain trotted out Sarah Palin for the first time. Like many people, I thought, "Damn, a hyperconservative, fuckable, Type A, antiabortion, Christian Stepford wife in a 'sexy librarian' costume -- as a vice president? That's a brilliant stroke of horrifyingly cynical pandering to the Christian right. Karl Rove must be behind it."

Palin may have been a boost of political Viagra for the limp, bloodless GOP (and according to an ABC/Washington Post poll she has created a boost in McCain's standing among white women to a 53 over Obama's 41). But ideologically, she is their hardcore pornographic centerfold spread, revealing the ugliest underside of Republican ambitions -- their insanely zealous and cynical drive to win power by any means necessary, even at the cost of actual leadership.

Sarah Palin is a bit comical, like one of those cutthroat Texas cheerleader stage moms. What her Down syndrome baby and pregnant teenage daughter unequivocally prove, however, is that her most beloved child is the antiabortion platform that ensures her own political ambitions with the conservative right. The throat she's so hot to cut is that of all American women.
Now this person, one Cintra Wilson says that if you find her public thrusting offensive why you are one of the "backwater, atavistic, evangelical Christian Taliban zealots everywhere."

palinriverbend_teacrowd01sm.jpgNow, I don't know if Mrs. Palin will INSIST by dint of law if others cannot have an abortion FEDERALLY SANCTIONED, and paid for from FEDERAL COFFERS, which is all she can TRY to do. But I would suggest that as of today, neither does this Cintra Wilson. In fact the only extrapolation we can make is that as Gov of Alaska she upheld the law there despite her personal belief which APPEARS to be that abortion is murder.

I disagree. But that's just me. Never the less, I acknowedge she may be right, and she acknowledges she may be wrong by upholding the law

That would be called tolerance.

You know, that thing this Wilson needs to have her consciousness raised on.

NYT:

Squad of G.O.P. Aides Prepares Palin for Interviews

Two weeks ago, People magazine was granted an exclusive interview with Senator John McCain's new running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, who spoke about motherhood and career, life in Alaska and the historic nature of her candidacy.

She has not given an interview since, eschewing the traditional television news circuit traveled by a vice-presidential nominee.

Ms. Palin will break that news media blackout on Thursday, when she will begin two days of interviews by the ABC News anchor Charles Gibson.

The sessions could be the first test of Ms. Palin's ability to parry substantive questions on foreign and domestic policy, and as she flew back to Alaska on Wednesday, she brought with her a squad of Mr. McCain's top policy advisers to help her prepare.

Main Entry:par·ry
1 : to ward off a weapon or blow 2 : to evade or turn aside something transitive verb 1 : to ward off (as a blow) 2 : to evade especially by an adroit answer <parried the question>
I wonder if her purpose is not to parry, but to answer forcefully.
I don't know.
But the mindset of those who cover her is quite revealing.

They cannot imagine an answer, only a parry.

Democrat Compares Obama to Jesus, Palin to Pontius Pilate on House Floor

There's something really, really strange going on.

Another stupid racist trick.

ALBANY (CBS) ― On Monday, Gov. David Paterson angered some state lawmakers by comparing them to vampires, calling them a bunch of "blood suckers." On Tuesday, he raised eyebrows again, and tempers, by accusing the John McCain campaign of veiled racism.

At the Crain's Business Forum this morning, Paterson drew attention to a phrase used numerous times by speakers at the Republican National Convention to describe Barack Obama's leadership experience: community organizer.

"I think the Republican Party is too smart to call Barack Obama 'black' in a sense that it would be a negative. But you can take something about his life, which I noticed they did at the Republican Convention - a 'community organizer.' They kept saying it, they kept laughing," he said.

Paterson referred to McCain's running mate Sarah Palin who compared her work experience to Obama's.

"So I suppose a small town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except with real responsibilities," she said at the convention.

Paterson sees the repeated use of the words "community organizer" as Republican code for "black".
Anyone else noticing the frequency of stupidity is increasing dramatically?
Boy those 'organizers' can sure dance.
However the 'neo cons' (WINKWINK) can really negotiate.
So what do the crackers do?

Oh well, we better get back to Caribou Barbie the pig with lipstick Moose-shooter !
What is this going to be about in 2 months?
